This handsome Rhodesian/hound mix is in our care after being rescued out of traffic this morning.

He is clearly loved and we’re hopeful that someone is missing him. He will be safe with us in the meantime.

The initial TRO period is up and an agreed extension has been put into place for now.

Thank you to everyone around the world who has been supporting Major and his dad during this ordeal.

We hope you’ll continue to use your voices in your own communities, whether you’re local or afar, to advocate for animal welfare whether it be fostering, adopting, donating, or volunteering. There are rescues, shelters and advocacy groups worldwide who always need passionate people like each of you. 🐾🫶

🥹 Dare we say, the biggest transformation of 2026 so far!

Our scaredy flight-risk Sonic, who had been dumped and living alone on the streets for over a month, had that foster life magic 🪄and…Voila!

She’s a whole new dog…with a whole new life!

A lot of love, effort and patience went into this and her foster mama worked so hard to support Sonic in arriving where she is today — in her forever home!

She went from solo to a loving family with kiddos and dog siblings, too! 😍

Thank you so much to everyone who played a role in her journey so far — the kind humans who fed her daily, the team members who rescued her and got her into care, her overnight emergency holder, her foster mama, and team member who supported, and our vet staff for giving her the space she needed at appointments!

And last, but definitely not least, her forever family. Thank you for choosing Sonic with your whole hearts and gifting her the dream life. 💙💙💙

😔 A heartbreaking situation all around and 3 life lines needed.

One of our wonderful foster parents lost a family member suddenly and when they passed three pets were tragically left behind. 💔

Over the last few weeks, after witnessing their mom pass, strangers have shuffled in and out moving boxes and cleaning the home all while they remained alone and scared.

They are being fed daily but spend the majority of their time by themselves. There are no family members with the capacity to take this trio, together or separately.

Our foster parent has contacted over 130 rescues in the state and all have turned her down. We are happy to help them, but we need foster homes ready and willing in order to do so.

Can you take a scared, senior kitty?
A sweet pup duo or just one of them?
All 3 are up to date on vaccines and spayed and neutered.

We’ll have our answer within 10 days.

The judge spent a substantial amount of time discussing the matter with both sides in his chambers, out of view from the public.

He was generous enough to come out after to address the attendees and share a bit candidly about the next steps.

Now is the time for patience as the judge reviews the case in depth and makes his ruling.

There is no action right now. Hold fast.

🤞 Tomorrow’s is Major’s Day in federal court.

The preliminary injunction hearing will be held to allow the court to determine whether Major must be provided a decompression period and proper individualized assessment under Title II of ADA.

While this hearing is open to the public, this is not an opportunity to come and demonstrate. A federal court case is a serious matter and everyone involved has put in immense time and effort to be there tomorrow.

If you choose to attend, do so in a way that will reflect positively on Major and Shane. Anything less, any shenanigans, and you can just stay home.

Let justice prevail. ⚖️🐾

FEDERAL LAWSUIT FILED

Yesterday, Major’s owner filed a federal lawsuit in Austin under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and 42 U.S.C. 1983, alleging violations of rights under the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments.

Core issue: Major performed specific tasks to help his owner with an ADA-protected disability. Federal law requires the City to perform an individualized assessment of Major which met the requirements of the ADA before taking action against him. The City never performed that assessment.

This lawsuit does not seek to overturn the lower court order. It asks the federal court to force the City to do what federal law required: allow Major to be properly and fairly assessed, in a real setting, with his handler present, before deciding Major is a danger. It also seeks monetary damages for violations of the owner’s Constitutional rights by the City and the other defendants.

As part of this lawsuit, the owner has asked the federal court to issue an emergency Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to prohibit the City from euthanizing Major until a hearing can be held.

Things are fluid, and we will keep you updated as things progress today.
