Pride Month glorifies disordered passions and elevates identity over truth. But the Church, born from the Heart of Christ on the Cross, offers a better way: holiness, healing, and the joy of conversion.

Join us this month in reclaiming June — not with condemnation, but with clarity and courage, by honoring the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Sorry to be missing in action! We've been working on our X presence recently and have neglected our other social media. We are nowhere near where we want to be on X. But we are beginning to get a little traction in spite of our narrow focus on Notre Dame's Catholic identity. That said, we plan to see you around Facebook routinely again. There is a lot going on at Notre Dame to talk about. Some good and some "not so much!"

Another canary in the shaft at DePaul University where students were permitted to establish an organization called "Planned Parenthood Generation Action" with a mission to promote "reproductive freedom," "values-neutral sexual education," and "Planned Parenthood health centers," while "dismantling white supremacy." The group's organizers claim (and evidently the school agrees) that its activities "aligns with DePaul's Vincentian mission -- a claim reinforced visually on their website with a group photo next to the iconic St. Vincent statue on campus. Even so, it's worth noting that the Patron Saint of Charity has his back turned to them. DePaul was 10 years ahead of Notre Dame establishing its "LGBTQ" student organization. If you're familiar with Brother Columba (aka, "The Cobbler of Notre Dame") you have heard of the many accounts of miraculous healings associated with his intercessions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. During his lifetime, he was known for his humility of heart, love of neighbor, confidence in God, lively faith, continual prayer, life of poverty, and devotion to the Sacred Heart. May yesterday's Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus be followed today by a blessed Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

At our Annual Breakfast last weekend, we premiered our latest video highlighting student organizations that effectuate Notre Dame's Catholic identity. The Irish Rover has played a crucial role on campus fighting secularization. Nevertheless, as you will see, it goes beyond this -- building deep and lasting community among students who are committed to its mission.

“I was shocked to find so many of my faithful boys among the dead,” wrote [Father Francis] Sampson. “It didn’t seem possible that these young men who had been so confident a week before, whose hands I had shaken before we boarded the planes, who had confessed and received Holy Communion on the eve of D-Day, who had wise-cracked that ‘no N**i bullet has my name on it’—it just didn’t seem possible that they were in eternity now.”

The heroism and religious dedication of Father Sampson, who jumped into Normandy and became known as the “Parachute Padre” and other Notre Dame chaplains who served during World War II are detailed in John Wukovits's "Soldiers of a Different Cloth."

We honor the courage and sacrifice of all those who, 80 years ago in Normandy, put their lives on the line by land, air, and sea for freedom. Let us carry on their legacy by continuing to fight for the values they defended.
