Amigos de Parque Zaragoza's mission is to pick up the baton from the great leaders who served on the And we believe our park’s story is just getting started.

We are dedicated to bringing our community together through park activities, returning cherished, old traditions, as well as creating new ones. We are committed to the preservation of Parque Zaragoza’s legacy to tell its story for generations to come. In the tradition of the community advocates before, we believe Parque Zaragoza Neighborhood Park is a place of celebration and unity. A first goal i

s to start the planning and fundraising for Parque Zaragoza’s 90th Anniversary next Cinco de Mayo, as an opportunity to tell its complete story. We invite everyone in the community who has enjoyed Parque Zaragoza or made a past contribution to join.

Get ready for a spooktacular evening at Zaragoza’s Costume Crawl! 🕸️
Join us on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 5:30 PM at Parque Zaragoza Recreation Center (2608 Gonzales St, Austin, TX 78702) for a fun night full of costumes, candy, and community fun!

We encourage everyone—kids and adults alike—to come dressed in your best Halloween costumes!

Activities: Walk the spooky trail, visit themed booths, and enjoy a safe, family-friendly Halloween celebration.

We can’t wait to see all the creative costumes and Halloween spirit!

In honor of Diez y Seis de Septiembre (Mexican Independence Day), join us at Parque Zaragoza for baseball games on the historic Zaragoza Ballfield featuring the Sandlot League (ALL DAY) and family friendly activities in the Zaragoza Recreation Center from 2pm to 5pm.

Join Amigos de Parque Zaragoza, Ride Bikes Austin Austin Parks Foundation for a Picnic and Field Day as part of “Its My Park Day” on Nov. 2nd from Noon to 2 PM. Activities include egg race, spoon race, tug of war, sack race, hula hoop station, co****le and sidewalk chalk. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket and enjoy the afternoon!

Amigos de Parque Zaragosa and Austin Parks Foundation received a grant from Project for Public Space to help identify an active use for the unused parking lot located between the Zaragoza Rec Center and the the old Auto Zone/Sonic. The workshop takes place on Wednesday, May 8th from 6pm to 8pm in the multi-purpose room at the Zaragoza Rec Center. This is the first step in selecting a good use for that part of the park. Hi Everyone - Its time for Its My Park Day (IMPD) at Parque Zaragoza again. It happens once in the Spring and once in the Fall. We will be distributing mulch to the young trees at Parque Zaragosa. Great exercise! Below is the registration link. Although pre-registration is not required, it does qualify you to get the free "Its My Park Day" t-shirt. They are always really nice and this time it will be the 20th anniversary t-shirt for IMPD.

Close the text box that pops up. In the search bar, type "Parque" and then select Parque Zaragoza. You will see the park and the nominated trees over to the right of the park (as shown in picture). Please join Amigos de Parque Zaragoza and Austin City Council Member Jose Velasquez on June 13th to discuss safety issues in and around Parque Zaragoza. Safety issues have persisted since the early stages of the pandemic and we need your help to express how important it is for the City to do more so that families using the park and rec center don't have to fear for their safety on a constant basis. Please come share your views!

We've nominated the large oak tree behind the stage at Parque Zaragoza for Tree of the Year (a contest put on by Tree Folks & City Parks & Rec). Use the link below to go to the voting site. Click on "proceed as guest." When you see the map, make sure that the category "large tree" is selected. Then, zoom-in (by scrolling with your mouse) on the map to the intersection of Pleasant Valley & E. 7th St. The green dot closest to that intersection is the tree in Parque Zaragoza. You'll have to click on the dot and then click on the "heart" to vote. Its not so easy to explain but you can get to where you need to pretty quickly! And don't forget that early voting (for November general elections) started today!
