As some know I spent about 14 years of my life in addiction. During that time I was lost and separated from God. From late 2014 to early 2016 I was homeless.

Streetlight Ministries ATX Mission

To share God's love through providing immediate needs and rehabilitation resources to the homeless and high-risk communities. I would sleep on sidewalks, shelters, or anyplace I could find. I was living from one fix to the next. One drink to the next. One day in December of 2015 I was begging on the streets in Tampa FL. I was approached by 4 people aski

ng me if I knew who Jesus is. Those people helped me see how far I was from Jesus, prayed over me, and even gave me the address of a church I could go to that following Sunday. THEY PLANTED A SEED!!!! I wish I could say my life did a complete 180 at that moment but those words never left me. Today I am 2 years 2 months and 12 days clean from drugs!! It was God and God alone who did this for me. That is why I am starting Streetlight Ministries ATX. To pass on what those people did for me in Tampa. I am working from the grace of God to spread his love and almighty power.

Austin Public Libraries can help connect those experiencing homelessness with resources they need.

The Library implemented “wraparound” services, as a collaborative model, to help individuals find, understand, and connect to basic services to improve their quality of life. By centralizing services at certain locations, service providers are able to meet individuals where they are to help individuals navigate to behavior health care, medical care, employment assistance, shelter, food, clothing, and housing.

Share this with someone you know needs to hear it.

Share it with the guy on the corner with a cup.

Share it with the woman who is holding a sign.

Most of all, share a smile and show them you care.

"The FHA did not only refuse to insure homes in Black communities. It also actively fought integration and Black homeownership. In the rare case of a Black family being able to afford to buy into a white neighborhood with no government assistance, the FHA would reject mortgages in the area even for white occupants. Its pretense was that the community was now at an increased due to the threat of integration. This practice placed an additional layer of restriction against Black potential homeowners. It further ensured that Black residents would not become homeowners, and ushered Black people into crowded urban areas that helped create generations of poverty."

This Black History Month, Streetlight Ministries wants to acknowledge the plight of our homeless community, especially those who've suffered because of generations of racial discrimination.

At Streetlight, we want to shine a light on the cause and fight for change.

Love is an action. Love is doing something for the good of another. Love is creating space for everyone to feel the dignity of self worth. As Image bearers and followers of Christ, we are called to walk with those that are marginalized and show them what the love of God looks like.

At Streetlight, we want to use this idea to create an opportunity to share God's love by meetings needs and sharing resources to those who are unhoused.

Homelessness in Austin affects our minority population at a much higher rate even though they make up less of the overall population. The sting of this truth comes from generations of hurdles that have had to be overcome by these brothers and sisters. Survival is not living. God's will is to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Join Streetlight Ministries in living this truth through acts of kindness, care, and compassion. We can make a difference in someone's life if we do it together under the calling of our Father in heaven.

Instead of making a resolution, we want to challenge you to create a mantra instead.

Our mantra this year will be shine. At Streetlight Ministries, we want to shine a light on the unhoused who are hurting and suffering in hopes of restoring their dignity and self-worth.

If we can acknowledge their suffering and trauma, we can show them hope. If we can get them ready to accept love and help, then we can show them selfcare. If we can help them see a way out of homelessness, then we can show them opportunities.

We know that God's love and Jesus's sacrifice renews all things.

Everyone has a story but not everyone has a happy one.

We want to shine a light on those who are in darkness and despair.

Just as God gave us a way to him, we hope to be a voice that proclaims truth to those that are lost in sin and suffering.

We were on Congress street in Austin stopping people to share about our organization. Even though we only got enough donations to fill ONE backpack, we know God is using us to plant seeds. We have faith that God will make a way for us to help our lost brothers and sisters find their way back to Him. We love because He first loved us.

Packs of Prayers fundraising!! Saturday 12/4 the Streetlight ATX team will be in the area of Allen Boots on South Congress around 10 am - 1PM. Then from 3 - 5 we will be at Peace Point!

Happy Monday! I Wanted to share a beautiful encounter I had with a gentleman the other day. I was at 711 off 15th street and there was a man, sitting on the side of the building with a guitar, yelling because one of the strings on it had broken and he had just bought them. Talk about a bad start to the day. When I was in the store, I got him a slice of pizza, and a soda hoping it would cheer him up a little. When I gave him the food, we had the chance to have a conversation. We talked about how he got to where he is now, I told him a little about myself and of course Jesus got in the conversation. We laughed, cried, and got to pray together. All in a matter of 15 minutes. When I was about to leave, I shared with him something I had to do that day and I was not looking forward to doing. This man stood up and said, “Let me give you a hug, I have no idea how you have the courage to do that” and he gave me a heart-warming hug. Jesus is amazing! A hug is exactly what I needed, and both of our days got much better after that. Praise God for every blessing in life. The blessing of love is real, and you never know where its going to find you! So, hug someone today. It is much more powerful than most think.

I thank God today for allowing me to win the battles of my past. We are sinners by nature and full of wickedness. When trials come to us remember that the pain is the purification of our heart. God will give us strength to endure and the victory is priceless. That you Jesus!
