🏛️ A recap from Capitol Hill!
Our Advocacy Chair Heather Emerson just wrapped a full day of meetings at NAWBO National Advocacy Days in Washington, D.C., sitting down with the offices of our Texas representatives to share what women business owners need to see move forward. đź’Ş
Two big asks were on the table:
📌 Codify the definition of a "micro business." When 91–95% of all businesses never cross seven figures in revenue, the upward mobility of our smallest businesses is what powers the economy — and that deserves to be recognized in law.
📌 Make healthcare more affordable. Across Texas, even strong, successful businesses are struggling to provide health insurance and benefits to their employees. Our reps need to hear that. 🩺
Huge thanks to the offices of Rep. Beth Van Duyne, Rep. Monica De La Cruz, and Rep. Lizzie Fletcher for the conversations. This is what it looks like when women business owners bring their voices straight to the table. 🇺🇸
📅 Want the full brief on our impact in D.C.? Join us at the June 10 luncheon, where Heather sits down with Mayor Crystal Mancilla of Liberty Hill for a fireside chat on advocacy in action — bringing the conversation from Capitol Hill right back home to Central Texas. 🔥
