Neighbors sharing with neighbors is what it is all about šŸ«‚

While SNAP benefits are paused and many are worried about the high cost of groceries, little free pantries have been popping up in driveways all across America.

Whether you’re inspired to create your own (all you need is a tub, sign and a few cans!) or get involved with organizations in your own community, we hope you find the ways it feels good for you to give back to the place you call home.

Please grab food from our pantry at Hunters and Scurry if you need it and help spread the word! Give what you can, when you can.

You can also donate or volunteer at many amazing organizations helping close to you:

Check your local churches, mosques and schools for hyper local food banks in your area

Community Clothing Swaps are another great way to build connection, community and resilience where you live.

Whether it’s throwing a day to swap closets with friends or organizing larger community swaps like our neighbor Cynthia, you just might find what you’re looking for right at home (and for free!)

Do you find yourself wondering HOW to build local community? Do you know the names of the people who live right next to you?

I like to start with soup. It’s not much but if you make a big pot there’s usually enough to share with your closest neighbors. Sometimes they even have free jars to go around.

It started with knocking on their doors, to getting their numbers to starting a group chat… you get the picture. Now we’re sharing gardening supplies and pulling each other’s trash cans up to the garage.

There’s a lot of little ways you can start to build community where you live. Sometimes all it takes is that 1 person reaching out to get it started. We’d love to hear what’s worked for you!

Halloween Story Time + Pumpkin Patch with Walnut Creek Elementary was a huge success!

We had a great time reading to 280 kinder-2nd graders from our neighborhood elementary school. The classes got to take a walking field trip where they were met with neighbors reading spooky stories and a pumpkin patch to pick out their very own pumpkin to take home.

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who donated so that almost 300 kids could get their own free pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. And a huge thank you to our neighbors DJ, Lynda, Debbie, Ashley, Anne, Emily, Michelle, Pierre and Kam who read stories for the kids and helped everything run smoothly! šŸŽƒšŸ§”

If you’re looking for a simple way to make a big difference in your community, consider mentoring at your neighborhood school.

No special experience necessary! You and your mentee meet for a casual weekly lunch where you can play board games, read, do art together, or just hang out and talk.

We’re excited to partner with one of our neighborhood schools, Walnut Creek Elementary in North Austin to encourage folks to get involved.

Lovely folks repping We’re All Neighbors in Providence, Rhode Island! āš“ļøšŸŒŠ

These sweet neighbors from Overhill Rd threw a block party to get to know each other and build community where they live ā¤ļø

There were homemade snacks and brownies, a keyboard concert from a talented 8 year old, lots of new friends made, and even an impromptu water balloon fight šŸŽˆšŸŽ¶šŸ§

Organizer JD Stettin said putting together the event helped him realize that neighboring doesn’t need to be complicated or revolutionary. He said that once the ball was rolling, everyone came together to do their part. šŸ‘šŸ‘«

Installed a Free Little Art Gallery over the weekend, that was made using materials and tools donated by neighbors in the Walnut Creek area 🫶

We made this because we believe that every neighborhood is full of talent, creativity, and unexpected treasures and we can’t wait to see what art comes out of our neighborhood!

Find out if there’s a Little Gallery near you at freelittleartgalleries.art
