FREE MULCH!

Earth Month is mulch month! Protect your trees from the summer heat by applying a layer of mulch. Mulch helps maintain soil moisture, insulates roots from temperature extremes, and provides nutrients as it breaks down. Come grab a bag of mulch and learn how to nurture and protect your new trees in the summer months.

Last year your donations made on helped the Rooted in Melanin Initiative with a lot! We are so appreciative of you!

In 2021, we met many of our goals for . With your donations, we were able to purchase the following needed supplies:

Hardware
Garden tools
Organic transplants and seeds
Wood for our garden plots
Garden soil and amendments
Back end operational costs

With those supplies, RIM was able to provide a safe, educational, and comfortable learning environment for community members wanting to learn more about gardening.

For 2022, RIM has goals of using your donation to assist with funding paid internship roles such as a Social Media Coordinator and Site Coordinator role for a local community member or student. We also plan to continue using funds to support our community with garden resources.

We are so thankful for your support. RIM looks forward to showing the Greater Austin community how we can continue to learn how to immerse ourselves in the space of sustainable wellness and gardening!

Spring has sprung! This upcoming workday we're joined by Austin Chapter for a Seed Starting Party!

We will be starting seeds, making paper pots, mixing soil, and sowing in our garden beds. You can even bring your own seeds and newspapers if you want.

Sign up is required (even if you've been to our previous workdays we need to keep headcount).

Masks are required😷 like required required... So bring one along with some old newspaper, seeds if you have any, and get ready for a safe, informative meet up with us!
