The 2026 NPCB Board of Commissioners election results are in. Congratulations to three NPs who will begin their terms in January 2027:

Taiwo Arise, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CNE
Newly elected to a three-year term, Dr. Arise will focus on certification integrity, competency-based assessment, and keeping certification standards aligned with current NP practice.

Katherine Reina, DNP, APRN, AGNP-C, CCRN
Newly elected to a three-year term, Dr. Reina plans to bring the voice of NPs as leaders, innovators, and advocates to the Board, with a focus on leadership, mentorship, professional advancement, and a strong, engaged NP community.

Alison Farr, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, MSCP
Re-elected to a second term, Dr. Farr will continue advocating for practicing NPs to have a voice in NPCB governance, with certification standards that remain rigorous, relevant, and responsive to NP practice.

Congratulations to Dr. Arise, Dr. Reina, and Dr. Farr. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's election and voted for the future leadership of NPCB.

The NPCB AGNP-C exam is focused on the clinical work AGNPs do in practice: Assess, Diagnose, Plan, and Evaluate.

It includes 150 total questions, 135 scored items, and a 3-hour testing window.

The exam is weighted toward the patient population AGNPs serve most, with 57% of scored questions covering older adult patients.

The NPCB FNP-C exam focuses on clinical knowledge across the lifespan, from newborn through older adult patients.

It is organized around our four clinical domains: Assess, Diagnose, Plan, and Evaluate — with no nursing theory, research methodology, or nursing process content.

NPCB FNP-C certification is granted for a 5-year period.

After certification, FNP-C certificants renew by practice plus continuing education — 1,000 practice hours and 100 CE contact hours, including 25 in pharmacology — or by passing the exam again.
