Meet KVUE Forever Families Andrew, a 12-year-old who loves swimming, pizza, and dogs! 🐕 Soon entering seventh grade, he focuses on enjoying his youth and feeling like a kid. But, he worries about one thing: finding a forever home.

"Andrew carries a heavy heart. At 12 years old, he is acutely aware of the hard realities of the foster care system, knowing that finding an adoptive home becomes more difficult as children get older," writes Hannah Rucker News . Andrew says he isn't looking for a perfect family, rather one that is kind, caring, and adds, "As long as the family has a dog, I'm fine with it!"

Texas CASA CEO Vicki Spriggs recently shared the FY27-29 Strategic Plan that will guide the next chapter of our child advocacy and support to the local CASA network. ➡️

Developed by our Board of Directors with input from Texas CASA staff and local CASA programs across the state, the three-year roadmap reflects where we are today and, more importantly, where we are going together — with the belief that meaningful change happens at the community level. 🤝

"This plan is more than a roadmap for Texas CASA — it is a shared commitment to the children and families we serve and to the volunteers and communities who make this mission possible," said Texas CASA CEO Vicki Spriggs.

In this episode of CASA on the Go, psychotherapist and author Ana Gomez describes how Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing therapy can be a tool for youth who are experiencing foster care. 💙 She highlights how EMDR's trauma-informed approach taps into the brain's natural healing mechanisms to address and overcome trauma while simultaneously building emotion management and processing skills. 🧠

When four siblings were at risk of being placed in separate homes, their CASA volunteer stepped in to keep them together. 🫂

Through Collaborative Family Engagement and partnership with Texas Family Care Network, the children's eldest sibling became their legal guardian. This way, four of the five siblings reunited permanently while one sibling went away to college. Additionally, CASA and TFCN helped the siblings by securing them reliable transportation and access to food, essentials and resources as they adjusted.

Community support makes a BIG difference to children in foster care. ❤️‍🩹

KVUE Forever Families is highlighting Partnerships for Children's Back to School supply program which recently distributed over 300 backpacks fully loaded with school essentials like notebooks, pens, and pencils + fun personalized accessories! "Having brand-new items chosen specifically for them helps ease back-to-school jitters and allows foster youth to walk through the school doors feeling equal to their peers," writes Hannah Rucker News.

PFC is just getting started. The organization aims to provide over 1,000 backpacks this back to school season, and is still accepting supply donations to make sure every child is equipped for success on their first day of school.
