Meet KVUE Forever Families Jesse, a 13-year-old who loves to read and is passionate about football. 🏈 Beyond his passions though, Jesse is looking for a family to be his support system. "When he steps onto the field for his eighth-grade season, he wants to be able to look up into the stands and know he has a forever family looking back at him, cheering his name," writes Hannah Rucker News.

"I have my class and stuff, but they're not really considered family. They [are] just considered there to help me. At this point, I just hope a good, a really good family that will love and support me, that they adopt me," said Jesse.

We know that when community partners work together, we all better serve children and families in Texas. 🤝 Today we hosted a space for CASA programs, SSCCs, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to discuss doing just that — thank you for for everyone who attended our From Involvement to Partnership Luncheon hosted by the amazing Texas CASA Collaborative Family Engagement team.

Creating a collaborative environment changes EVERYTHING. 🤝 Collaborative Family Engagement Coach Maria McCord was a youth in the foster care system and truly understands just how far collaboration has grown in the past ten years of CFE.

Not only have we shifted the way we view families and see them as partners, we're also strengthening our partnerships with Child Protective Services and Community-Based Care organizations to build a network of support for children in foster care and their families. Together, we share our expertise and information to reduce the burden and trauma for children and families.

Inspired by San Marcos' recognition as a Bird City Texas community in 2025, we chose the hummingbird as a central element of our theme because of the similarities to CASA volunteers. 💙 CASA programs embody the hummingbird’s strength to endure and the promise of renewal, and use them to help children overcome hardships in the foster care system and move toward safety, healing, and a brighter future. 🔆

Texas CASA’s Public Policy team has incredible partnerships with a wide network of child welfare advocacy groups at the Capitol and throughout Texas. But most important to our work is our partnership with the network of 74 local CASA programs across the state. 🌟 We collaborate with the CASA network to develop policy agendas that improve the child welfare system, build relationships with legislators, and ultimately create changes that make a difference in the lives of Texas children and families.
