Rescue One More Creating a pathway to safety, justice, and healing for child survivors of s-xual violence in Uganda

09/18/2026

What do we carry in our bags as we go to rescue one more child? A little bit of everything!

From everyday essentials to the tools we need to show up, listen, support, and advocate for children.

Our bags may look different, but our purpose is the same: protecting children, supporting survivors, and working every day to ensure every child receives justice.

What do you carry in your bag to protect a child?

Every child deserves to grow up safe from sexual violence, regardless of where they are born or the circumstances they are born into.

But protecting children requires more than good intentions. It requires communities willing to act, systems that hold perpetrators accountable, and leaders committed to making child protection a priority.

Since 2021, Rescue One More has worked within communities to strengthen the systems that surround children, from prevention and protection to justice and healing.

Ending child sexual violence is a shared responsibility, and we all have a role to play.

How are you making your community safer for children?

Thank you, victoria_sibiya, for gracing our shelter with your visit. It was a joy and an encouragement to have you with us.

We truly appreciated your words, the moments we shared, and the positive impact your presence had on our children.

We’re grateful for the time you spent with us and our children.

Children (both girls and boys) are constantly at risk of experiencing sexual violence, most often from the very people closest to them.

We all need to be conscious, vigilant, and invested in creating safe environments where children are protected, heard, and empowered to speak up.

Protecting children is everyone’s responsibility.

Help us protect more children from dangerous environments.

This week, children across Uganda are heading back to school from the holidays.

For our Prevention team, that means one thing: SHOWTIME.

Before school even begins, we’re back in classrooms training teachers to recognize the signs of abuse and to know exactly how to respond if a child discloses abuse.

We do this because we know protecting a child starts with informed adults who are ready to act even before harm happens.

Help us reach more schools: support our Prevention team’s training work.

Today, we’re celebrating Grace Nakalembe, our Operations Manager and one of Rescue One More’s first employees in Uganda.

From the very beginning, Grace has helped strengthen our work across different locations, ensuring children and families receive the support they need.

Her commitment is deeply personal. Having experienced life as an orphaned child herself, Grace understands the importance of creating spaces where children feel safe, heard, and protected.

Today, she continues to lead with resilience, compassion, and purpose helping us stay focused on our mission to rescue, restore, and protect one more child.

We’re grateful for the years of dedication, compassion and leadership Grace continues to bring to Rescue One More.

Drop some encouragement to Grace in the comments below.

Children rarely say “I am being abused.” More often, they present signs.

Being a “safe adult” means noticing those signs and responding in a way that makes a child feel safe enough to say more.

Learn more about the signs and let’s end child sexual violence together.

Did you know most sexual violence cases go unreported because of:
Fear
Shame
Disbelief
Lack of knowledge of reporting mechanisms.

Let’s work together to create a world where children feel free to speak up about abuse and are believed.
