I’m so excited to introduce to you the past presidents parley for the term 2026-2027.

We are looking forward to sharing information on the scholarship of the past president‘s parley has. As well as mentoring our members and help guide them to be the best auxiliary members they can be.

Thank you to everyone who donated to the medical scholarships. We were able to award fourteen $1,000 scholarships! Students studies included veterinarian, OT/PT therapy, healthcare administration, Etc; attending Texas A&M, University of Texas, Victoria College, University of Oklahoma, Texas Women's University and more. You made this happen and we are incredibly grateful! Hope to see you in aAustin!

The medical scholarship applications are starting to come in! Thank you for getting the word out. Deadline is Memorial Day but I encourage you to get those applications to me as soon as possible so that we can review them thoroughly and in a timely fashion. If you're so inclined, please consider a donation to this amazing program that encourages future leaders in the field of Medicine. Don't forget the Unit Member of the Year nomination, and tell us about your favorite mentor... please take this flyer to your upcoming conventions, unit meetings, Etc

Thank you to all the units who have donated to the PPP Medical Scholarships! We have begun reading the applications so far and are very impressed!! There is still time to submit your applications for the Medical Scholarships and Department of Texas Unit Member of the Year awards (honor that special person in your unit who goes above and beyond!). Applications and instructions are on the website at alatexas.org or email [email protected].

A last minute "new item" has been added to our program this year. The PPP serves to provide mentorship, leadership, and guidance to members, Units, Districts, and Division. We are here for you - please reach out if we can be of help. MOTIVATING YOU MOTIVATES US!! Did you have a PDP who helped you this year navigate paperwork or parliamentary procedure, come out and visit a struggling Unit, help you get back on track, settle disagreements, or maybe she was a great shoulder to lean on during difficult times in your group (it happens!)? Tell us about her! Write a short narrative about your experience and the qualities that drew your appreciation and admiration, and email to [email protected]. We will share some of the stories and (with independent judges) pick a favorite for a special gift.

Please keep our dear friend Past Department President Brenda BJ Towers and her husband Gary in your prayers. They were in a very serious car accident a few days ago and last report was that Brenda is in ICU. As soon as we have more information we will update you

Please remember to submit applications for the Medical Scholarships no later than Memorial Day. This year we have a special scholarship in memory of PDP Mickey Prendergast that will be awarded to a student attending an institution of higher learning outside Texas (current scholarships are for schools in the state of Texas only). If you would like an application, please email me. Applications for Texas-only schools are on the ALA Texas website. Also, don't forget to recognize a very special member who has gone above and beyond with a Unit Member of Year nomination! Nomination forms are on the website or email me -- I'll have some at MidWinter also. Due by Memorial Day.
AND.....what program would be complete without a raffle?? We will be announcing the winner of the Bath & Body Works basket at MidWinter -- tickets available through Saturday. See you in Austin!
