ALA friends, please keep Past Department President MaryAnn Paul in your prayers - her husband Dan, a long time member of the Sons of the American Legion, passed this morning after a long battle with cancer. Dan was well loved and well known across the state, having served in numerous capacities in the SAL with a passion for the mission of the American Legion Family . Please hold his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

The Past President’s Parley table had lots of information for our members. We gave away candy bags and writing pens that look like hyperdermic needles, which everyone loved! We are selling tickets to a giant Flag afghan. The tickets are $5, we will pick a ticket at MidWinter in January and all proceeds go to Medical Scholarships!

Hola Department of Texas, here is the PEP for the PPP so let's start working on it ASAP!

This is a trifecta program..
1st, We would appreciate your help to raise money for medical scholarships, this can be anything from Dr. to Veterinarian to Dental Assistant, as long as it's in Texas. Let's make it rain! (scholarships that is)
2nd, We want your Unit to acknowledge and nominate that special member that goes above and beyond for the ALA. Member of the Year is a prestigious award but too few units submit a nominee, let's break that cycle this year and nominate, nominate, nominate!
AND 3rd, We want to encourage our members to reach out to your Past Department Presidents for guidance and mentorship. We really do want to help, and even if we don't have all the answers, we usually know where to find them. We can empathize with almost any situation, more importantly, we want ALL of our members to succeed on all levels.
Let's make mentoring a priority across the Great State of Texas!
