The Lone Star College System Board of Trustees congratulated Chancellor Mario K. Castillo and the entire LSCS community on reaching a record 100,000+ enrollments this fall!

For 15 TCC students, the path toward their aviation maintenance careers just got a little smoother. Embraer and the Embraer Foundation awarded scholarship certificates this week and announced an additional $25,000 for TCC's Aviation Maintenance Technology program — doubling their total contribution to $50,000.

The funding cover the cost of written, oral and practical exams required for Airframe and Powerplant certification (A&P) — a critical, often expensive step required for licensure.

“This partnership with Embraer reflects what’s possible when education and industry work together,” TCC Chancellor Elva LeBlanc said. “Every dollar invested in our aviation students strengthens not just their futures but the workforce this region depends on.”

For scholarship winner Erika Zavala Rodriguez, the assistance will help her complete her A&P certification, advance her career and support her family.

“My current focus is on continuing my education, completing my training and becoming the first college graduate in my family,” she said. “I also want to make my mother proud and provide the financial support for her to retire and enjoy a well-deserved rest after years of hard work.”

Embraer's new maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at Alliance Airport will employ approximately 250 aviation professionals, and they're already recruiting TCC students and graduates.

More than 18,000 sunrises later, the promise that launched TCC Northwest in 1976 holds firm: Give people access to education, and no telling how far they'll go.

Today we celebrated 50 years of TCC Northwest; five decades of preparing Trailblazers for meaningful careers and strengthening our community.

"Anniversaries remind us to honor those who came before," Chancellor Elva LeBlanc said. "They also remind us that we are responsible for creating the legacy that future generations will celebrate."

From its beginnings on donated land at Marine Creek Lake to becoming home to cutting-edge programs in aviation, cybersecurity, public safety and more, Northwest has continuously evolved to meet the needs of North Texas.

"What makes this anniversary meaningful is not simply that Northwest has been here for half a century. It is that Northwest has mattered for half a century. Generation after generation, people have come here looking for an education, a new skill, a better career or a fresh start — and Northwest has been here to meet them.”" TCC Board President Jeannie Deakyne

AC NEWS: After more than three decades of dedicated service to public education, Anette Carlisle is concluding her tenure on the Amarillo College Board of Regents, where she has served since 2015 following her earlier leadership on the Amarillo ISD Board of Trustees.

Throughout a career marked by key roles in driving student success initiatives, such as the Thrive Scholarship, leading the 2019 bond election, founding the Panhandle Bird Club, and earning the 2026 CCATT Outstanding Leadership Award, Carlisle leaves behind a legacy of advocacy and community impact.
