This Saturday: East 51st Street project open house
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Austin Energy's headquarters in Mueller.
City of Austin staff will host an open house for the community on Saturday, June 13, to present designs for the East 51st Street mobility project.

This project will include partial reconstruction of East 51st Street from Cameron Road to Berkman Drive featuring elements such as medians, new pedestrian crossings, tree-lined sidewalks and protected bicycle lanes.

The Austin Fire Department is in the neighborhood now offering FREE smoke detectors, detector inspections, and FREE home hazard assessments. Please take advantage of this FREE service if you are in need of a smoke detector.

In partnership with the Austin Fire Department our local fire stations are proud to offer FREE smoke alarms to PSSNA residents
The canvassing event in the PSSNA is on June 10 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This is when AFD will be going door to door installing and inspecting the smoke detectors to those who want them. You can also submit your requests electronically through the Community Engagement Request Form and indicate what date works for you if you cannot participate on June 10.
AFD will be offering FREE smoke alarm installations, battery replacements, and home hazard assessments. Even if you already have smoke detectors you can still have AFD inspect them to ensure they are working properly.
Firefighters from at least two fire stations will participate in the canvassing and complete installations, depending on the number of sign-ups and requests received. We had over 80 participants in 2024, let's see if we can beat that number this year.
