When violence impacts one person, the effects are felt throughout an entire community.

ATX Peace, a program co-created by Life Anew Restorative Justice and Jail to Jobs, brings both organizations together to help keep people safe and support communities affected by violence.

Following a homicide in North Austin, Life Anew’s ATX Peace outreach team showed up to be present with those affected. Our team connected with community members near the scene, offering support, counseling resources, and information.

As our outreach worker Bianca Lawry shared with KXAN, “We’re all chasing the same dream, and that’s peace.”

This is what community violence intervention looks like: showing up in difficult moments, building relationships, connecting people to resources, and helping communities begin to heal.

Our hearts are with the family and everyone impacted by this loss. Together, Life Anew and Jail to Jobs remain committed through ATX Peace to building safer, healthier communities throughout Austin. 💚

Workers with the group spent part of the morning talking with riders near the bus stop and offering support, counseling resources and information to anyone affected by the incident.

SEPTEMBER RECAP | ANTI-DISPLACEMENT PROGRAM

September was all about showing up, connecting with our community, and helping families build a more stable future! 🏡❤️

Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to this month:

✨ Navigating the Future Workshop: We attended the workshop at Mount Zion Baptist Church, connecting with community members and continuing conversations about building stronger futures for individuals and families.

🏘️ Pathways at North Loop: We attended the Resident Council Meeting at one of Austin Housing Authority’s properties, connecting with residents and strengthening our relationships within the community.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Stability & Legacy Awareness: We hosted two FREE Family Protection Information Sessions, helping individuals and families learn about living wills, medical directives, guardianship, and protecting their homes and valuables from unnecessary legal complications.

At Life Anew, we believe that protecting families, preserving homes, and empowering communities are essential to creating lasting stability. Together, we’re cultivating a future where families can remain rooted and thrive! 🌱
