Our project steps into the gap by finding affordable housing, co-signing leases, and providing the deposit and first month's rent. David's Episcopal Church project exists through the generous donation of time and money of over 100 people - many parishioners of the church. We help asylum-seeking families, primarily from Africa, who are fleeing persecution in their home countries. They make a harrow

ing trip from Africa to Brazil, through South and Central America, and ask for asylum at our southern border. We partner with Casa Marianella, an established shelter for immigrants and refugees since the 1980's. Casa refers families to us who wish to settle and make a life in Austin. The money we raise pays for rent, food, attorney fees, and other basics. Although rent and food are clearly essential, paying for a private attorney to handle their asylum cases may be the most important way we help long term. It can mean the difference between them getting asylum and getting to stay and being deported after a long and arduous journey. We are so fortunate to walk alongside these resilient and resourceful people as they make a new life for themselves in a new land. The road to self-sufficiency is long, but it doesn't have to be lonely. We always welcome new volunteers and new donors. Instructions for “Give” pulldown:
1. Scroll down to “My Donation”
2. Choose “Recurring” or “One Time”
3. From dropdown, choose “Fund”
4. Then choose “Sponsor a Family/Go and Do Likewise”
5. Then enter an amount and click “Add Donation.”

We hope individuals will choose to be recurring donors at $20/month
