During the 89th Texas Legislative session last spring, rural landowners traveled to the Capitol from all over the state to emphasize the importance of renewable energy in rural communities.

The bill responsible for mobilizing these individuals, if passed, would have imposed stringent siting restrictions on wind and solar projects, even on private land.

Landowners’ testimonies played a pivotal role in preventing this bill’s passage, and many others have publicly shared similar stories in the wake of the legislative session.

This year's festival theme is "A Moment for Us." By "us" we mean all of the amazing people that make Central Texas so special. Earth Day Austin's mission is putting equity at the center of the environmental movement in Central Texas. Every year. From our programing to the music to the food to the interpretation, we aim to ensure that everyone can participate. As a nonprofit hosting a free festival, this is not always easy, but we do it this way because we believe *everyone* should be able to find themselves represented and included at this festival that reminds us that we share a common home.

So what will you find at the festival? Well, a LOT. Music, food, electric vehicle rides, kids activities, young scientists, bat experts, reptile experts, community builders, exhibits, dance, movement activities, a planetarium, a butterfly walkthrough, and even a musical instrument petting zoo.

We start the day with an invocation to the four directions, and end with a moment of community. Join us for an hour or the whole day.

This is the 31st Anniversary of the National Solar Tour! The showcase weekend is October 2-4, 2026, where solar and sustainable living advocates will align across all 50 states to increase solar adoption and the implementation of sustainability upgrades.
