Paxton Lucas Schultz was stillborn on Friday, June 3, 2011. During my pregnancy, I knew Paxton was different. I was filled with feelings I could not explain. The day Paxton was born I knew he was born with a purpose bigger then he could accomplish on earth. As I sat holding my perfect but silent baby boy I promised him I would fulfill his life’s purpose to the best of my ability and make sure his
life and death were not in vain. Paxton's legacy is a non-profit organization that I started to bring hope, compassion, and understanding to those struggling with traumatic events. My goal is to give back in ways that may often be overlooked. A comfortable bed to sleep on, a knit hat that keeps a premature baby's head warm, aide in the form of food, gas, and lodging during hospital stays, a quiet place to grieve, donations that can provide families with assistance with medical expenses, and most importantly- a support system. It is my wish that Paxton's legacy can be an outlet for families who have found themselves in a situation where they feel isolated, exhausted, and afraid. With monetary donations and help from people like you, you are helping me honor the promise I made to ensure Paxton’s life meant something special. As a Non-Profit Organization Paxton’s Legacy relies on the kindness of others, please consider any donations no matter how small. Paxton's Legacy is counting on people like you to make a difference. One small act of kindness has the potential to make a huge impact on someone else's life. Paxton's Legacy needs your help! Right now, your donations will fund the start-up of the non-profit and help me begin to give back in the first of many projects on the horizon. Our 3 main projects will be ongoing and will always be in need of donations both monetary and non-momentary. The Projects
The first project: Non-monetary donations of handmade hats, blankets & toys
Any and all of these are very much needed at all time. All handmade non-monetary donations will be packaged with a card which will include the name and state of the maker, and a special note from you (must be included with your donation package to make sure your special note doesn’t get lost in the shuffle!). If you are donating in memory of a loved one please include that as well and that will be added to the cards for your handmade donations. Once received all non-monetary donations will be sorted, labeled and then put in inventory until we have the perfect place to take that specific donation. The second project: Monetary donations with hopes to provide Cuddle Cots to Colorado area hospitals with hopes of expanding beyond just the state of Colorado. Cuddle Cots are cooling beds used so that parents of stillborn babies can keep their babies close in their rooms. When I lost my son Paxton in 2011 I remember vividly the nurses having to take him away to the freezer every hour or so to preserve his skin. The warmth of the room and the body heat from my own body was making my boy’s fragile skin deteriorate. Having a Cuddle Cot will prevent the heartache of watching your sweet baby whisked away by nurses to avoid getting too warm. The time you have with these babies is so short and every second should be cherished. Cuddle Cots help give more time with their babies to these grieving families. You can learn more about Cuddle Cots here
If you have a specific place you would like a Cuddle Cot donated in memory of a special little someone in your family and you would like to have your baby named with a Cuddle Cot in memory of that is 100% doable. In order to set up specific Cuddle Cot donations there are a few things that need to be done but it is very easy to do and I am happy to do it. The third project: Fundraising for helping families going through traumatic life events
Paxton’s Legacy is all about helping everyone and touching as many lives as possible so Fundraising will be a big part of what we do. We are planning on having many different fundraising events in the future but first I would like to tell you about a very special annual fundraiser in the planning stages.
“Connor’s Fundraiser”
Connor’s Fundraiser will be an annual fundraiser in which the majority of the proceeds will be used to make a (hopefully large) monetary donation towards helping a family in need of a large boost towards a life saving or life improving service animal. Connor’s fundraiser was an idea that I had that was inspired by my friend’s son, Connor, who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 5 and has had a very touch battle. Connor is an 8 year old happy, fun loving, special little boy who is in desperate need of a Diabetic Alert dog. At the age of 5 Connor was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and does well managing his disease but would benefit greatly from one of these life saving service dogs. Most days, Connor pricks his fingers up to 10 times in one day to check his blood sugar levels. He wears an insulin pump that needs to be changed out every 3 days. He also wears a CGM, a continuous glucose monitor, which monitors his blood sugar every 5 minutes and sends it to a receiver so his parents can keep a closer eye on him when his numbers aren't in range. A Diabetic Alert Dog would help alleviate some of the stress and worry that burdens Connor's parents. Unlike Type 2 Diabetes, which is not autoimmune is more easily controlled and can even go away with proper diet and exercise, Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease, and there is no cure. Suffering from a whole list of autoimmune diseases myself, my hope with Connor’s Fundraiser is to spread awareness about autoimmune diseases, mental illness and other unpreventable illnesses and the havoc they cause in these families lives. These service animals cost tens of thousands of dollars and are simply out of reach for most people who need them most. My hope is to help make a large impact on as man lives as possible with the gift of love and hope. is a registered Non-Profit Organization with the state of Colorado and has been registered with the IRS. Currently we are going through the Tax Exemption 501(c)(3) application process, once this process is complete I will be able to send out tax exemption letters for any donations both monetary and non-monetary. Monetary Donations & Non-Monetary donations should be mailed to
