Coming up at the UMA!

The UMA Ensemble Group, directed by Laura Campbell, June 18th at 7:30pm. The ensemble consists of a variety of instruments played by community members. They have been working hard! The concert will be outdoors, in the case of rain it will be in the Social Room. Come and relax and enjoy! Bring lawn chairs, though we will have some chairs available.

Good Grief Group, Saturday, June 20th at 11am. Grief is a lifelong process. Sometimes it sneaks up on us after years of tucking it away. Other times it is front and center in our lives.
Please join us for a time of sharing, comfort, a few laughs and hugs, whether it has been years since your loss, or recent. Refreshments available.

Dr Arthur Bellinzoni Seminar, June 21st at 4pm. Please join Arthur in a thought provoking and sometimes challenging look at the Bible. This seminar will be a glance at some of The Apocryphal Gospels: The Infancy Gospel of James, The Infancy Gospel of Thomas, The Gospel of the Hebrews, The Gospel of the Ebionites, The Gospel of Peter, The Gospel of Judas, The Gospel of Mary, etc., as compared to the 4 Canonical Gospels. What constitutes history then and now? What do we even know about Jesus?

Whether you are a person of faith, or just a person of compassion, please join us as we explore ways we can help those who have the least among us, those struggling to survive, let alone get ahead, those who are being attacked simply for being who they are, or for the children, mothers, fathers and grandparents around the world who are experiencing bombs, lack of food and water -- hope. Regardless of your religion, or lack thereof, your political views, the color of your skin, whom you love, please join us as we seek compassionate ways to advocate for those who are in need. If you only wish to join in advocating for one group, or all groups, that is ok, come and join us as we discuss ways we can be compassionate advocates.

Women in Afghanistan. Then and Now" with Masih Ghazanfari, Thursday, June 4th at 5:30. The role of women in Afghanistan has changed significantly over the past few decades, particularly now. In the 1970s, women could go to university and many dressed in western clothing. But that has changed and now under the Taliban, women can not even go outside by themselves. Masih Gazanfari is an Afghan refugee who received his U.S. citizenship last April. He just graduated from Syracuse University. His senior thesis was about the changing condition of women in Afghanistan. Hope you join us for an interesting conversation!.

Ukraine, the War isn't Over Yet" with Father Vasyl Colopelnic from the St Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Auburn, Monday, June 8th at 5:30. FAther Vasyl joined us a few years ago when things seemed more hopeful for an early end to the war. Hope you join us for a discussion about what now seems to be a never ending war.
