We had the incredible privilege of hosting the Honor Bell Foundation at our meeting (Friday, August 7) and came to appreciate their mission: "to create a community of veterans to foster public appreciation of military service and honor their fellow veterans with a proper, final tribute". It was very inspiring.

We had the privilege of hosting three of the scholarship winners and their families of the Chris Cunningham Memorial Presidential Scholarship that was awarded this past school year. The club does this in cooperation with the Aurora Public Schools Foundation. These are truly outstanding students and very deserving of the awards. Pictured along with the students and their families is Dan Davis, president of AGR and Jill Ruiter of the APSF.

Meet Dr. Bakary Sanko, the 2026 Aurora Gateway Rotarian of the Year. Dr. Sanko was instrumental in championing an international grant that built (or is building) a community garden in Sika Village, The Gambia. This was an extensive undertaking in that funds came from a number of local and international Rotary clubs. Bakary was honored at the installation event and was provided the award by outgoing president Karen Phillips.

Heather and Kristen work with Covered Colorado. They presented information on human trafficking to the club. Both relatively new to the organization, they are committed and passionate about helping promote healing and restoration for those suffering. It was incredibly informative and absolutely eye-opening.
