Get ready for 10 hours of celebration, entertainment, music, dancing, and Pride at Bicentennial Park! 🎤🎪💃🎶

We’ll have entertainment happening throughout the day, with an incredible lineup of singers, bands, dancers, aerial acrobats/circus acts, fire dancing, line dancing, and more!

Happy International Nonbinary People’s Day! 💛🤍💜🖤

➡️ What does it mean to be “nonbinary”?
Nonbinary refers to people who do not subscribe to the gender binary. Some use the term exclusively, while others may use it interchangeably with terms like genderqueer, genderfluid, gender non-conforming, gender diverse, or gender expansive. It can also be combined with other descriptors e.g. nonbinary woman or transmasc nonbinary. Language is imperfect, so it’s important to trust and respect the words that nonbinary people use to describe their genders and experiences.

Today, we celebrate our non-binary and gender non-conforming community at the start of International Non-binary People’s Awareness Week!

What does it mean to be non-binary?

💛 Non-binary is an identity embraced by some people who do not identify exclusively as a man or a woman.

🤍 Non-binary people may identify as being both a man and a woman, somewhere in between or as falling completely outside of these categories.

💜 While many also identify as transgender, not all non-binary people do.

🖤 Non-binary can also be used as an umbrella term encompassing identities such as agender, bigender, genderqueer or gender fluid.

❗ TOMORROW: Free HIV and HCV Testing At Aurora Public Library

The Office of State Senator Karina Villa is partnering with Open Door Health Center of Illinois and the Aurora Public Library District to provide free and rapid HIV and HCV Testing tomorrow, July 1, from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at 101 S. River Street.

The tests are confidential (no ID required) and conducted by a trained Community Health Navigator from the Open Door Health Center. 💡

Join Anderson’s Bookshop for a Pride Panel event with David Levithan and Gabriel Duckels, to celebrate the release of The Fight of Our Lives: AIDS in America on Tuesday, June 30th at 7:00 pm in our Naperville store. Levithan and Duckels will be in conversation with author Maia Kobabe and illustrator Lucky Srikumar, celebrating the release of Opting Out.

Event Format

We will begin checking you in approximately 30 minutes before the start time. After a presentation and Q&A with the authors, the line will form in numbered order with the following guidelines:

Posed photo with your camera taken by our staff

There is a limit of 2 books from home to be signed per author (unless otherwise stated)

There is a limit of 1 personalization per author (unless otherwise stated)

All events have open seating. The “Order Line Number” on your pdf ticket is your reserved place in the signing line. You will line up to meet the authors based on that number.

If you cannot attend, you must pick up your book (if included with ticket) at the hosting store within 30 days of the event. We can ship that book to you for an additional charge of $9.99; please call the store to arrange that.

Pre-registration is required for this event because space is limited.
