RISE Colorado

RISE Colorado RISE works to educate, engage, and empower low-income families and families of color to RISE as change agents for educational equity in our public schools.

RISE Colorado's approach rests on our mission to educate, engage, and empower families. Educate:
We believe education precedes empowerment and action. To that end, we educate families to bridge the lack of access to information. Through our workshops families gain the aspirational and tangible tools to understand educational inequity and navigate the school system. Engage:
Families create and le

ad school coalitions that set the agenda to organize around issues that impact student achievement. They create the change they want to see and increase their power to act on behalf of themselves and their students. Empower:
Empowerment starts on day one. We develop families to become leaders that have a voice, and take action. RISE Colorado families will become key decision makers, vital to leading change in our public school system. Ultimately, families will ensure students most impacted by educational inequity make it to and through college.

For Women’s History Month, RISE honors Ella Baker, an American social justice activist and one of the architects of the Civil Rights movement. Working alongside other leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and W.E.B. Du Bois, Ella advocated for an end to racial and gender oppression, and helped design the foundation of grassroots organizing in the U.S. As an advisor and strategist of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, she helped build democracy and mentored future activists such as Diane Nash and Rosa Parks. Ella is a true example of both brilliance and resilience.
