Please do not fall for this scam stuff. If you are not sure about it, asked someone you trust to help you or call the sheriff’s office.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has received another report of a scam involving parking and toll violations. The scammers are attempting to get victims to scan a QR code to settle unpaid fees.

Though this document looks official, it is yet another attempt to scam you out of your hard earned money. Don't take the bait. If you believe you have been the victim of a scam, please report it to your local law enforcement agency.

Community Watch Meeting
Minutes
January 8, 2026

Aurora Community Watch has patrolled a total of 80 hours since August 1, 2025 when we started tracking our hours.

Rick mentioned that he hoped everyone had a good Christmas. He also mentioned that Dalton Bennett, newly elected Town Commissioner had passed away.

It was announced that the Trash dump has been closed for repairs and that it would be closed for 6 weeks.

Laura will check with Kurt Ryan about adding our patrol hours to the voluntime app to be counted in the volunteer hours that are tracked for the Town of Aurora for use of in-kind monies/time for possible grants.

Major Hewitt announced that the web site for the Sheriff’s office has been remodeled and will be updated every quarter. You may now ask for your house to be checked on if you are out of town. The remodel of this app makes it more user friendly. BeaufortCounty.org

Tiffany Moore with Beaufort County Health Dept., who works with Community in Action Group would like to put a vending machine that is free to the public in front of our building. This machine will dispense hygienic products, some over the counter medicines, such as Tylenol, cough syrup, etc. These items will change as they become available and as to what is needed in our area. Beaufort County Health Dept. will maintain the upkeep and restocking.

Rick will attend the February Town Board meeting to get their blessings on this project and to install the electricity for the vending machine. He asked Tiffany to accompany him to explain in detail to the Town Board.

Rick asked that any monthly patrol sheets be turned in to Laura so that we can track our hours and post on our fb page.

Next meeting will be February 12, 2026 at 6:30 pm at the Aurora Community Watch Building.

Acw weather station here. We believe it may have snowed. We are still not sure since we do not have windows to look out of. If the chance it may have, please stay safe and warm. Do not go out driving unless it’s an emergency. Stay tuned for possible updates.
