The Hamilton County VFW Post 4993 recently awarded three $500 scholarships to (pictured left to right) Connor Smith, Madison Stevenson, and Emma Young. Pictured on their Left is our Commander Terri Willis and their right Paul Graham our Chaplain.

Connor will be using this scholarship to pursue a career in Building Construction via Northeast Community College. Madison will be attending Clarkson College to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Emma will also be joining the Nursing field and obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through UNK.

Our VFW gives scholarships every year as one of many ways we try to help and give back to the community. Good luck to these students, we hope you can utilize this scholarship to help reach those goals.

This month I'd like to introduce our Chaplain, Paul Graham. Paul has been VFW Post 4993's Chaplain since 2014, taking the reins from his late father Bill Graham who served as Chaplain longer than most members can seem to remember. Paul has been active with the VFW since 1994.
Paul served as an active-duty Army Infantryman from 1989 to 1993. He then rejoined as Army Reserve and served from 1997 to 2014. His time in service took him to Iraq twice fighting in Baghdad and Al Asad.
As our Chaplain Paul opens and closes every meeting with a prayer. We are thankful for what he does within our VFW, and all he does for this community.

For this month’s “meet a veteran” I’d like to introduce Roger Kruse. Roger served in the United States Army in 1965 to 1967. He is a Vietnam Veteran serving in the Cam Ranh Airbase as a Fire Distribution Controller. Roger has served this community as a VFW member since 1966, and over his 57 years he has served many roles included the Commander (several times). Roger is an asset to our Hamilton County VFW Post 4993, and offers priceless insight with his experience. Thank you Roger for your service to our country and to this community!

Last night in our monthly meeting, Post 4993 approved the matching of $50 from the State VFW to go towards a lifetime membership for all new and reinstated members.
So if you know anyone who possibly qualifies for the VFW (new or previously a member) we could get them a great deal on a lifetime membership for $100 off!
Reach out for more information.

We will be introducing a member of our VFW every month, beginning with our officers.
This month will start at the top with our VFW Commander Terry Willis. Terry was a Soldier in the Army from 1968-1973, and an Airman in the Air Force from 1983-2005. Terry served in multiple foreign countries including Europe and Asia. He had multiple MOS’s (military for job) but his favorite and most notable was as an Aircraft Metals Technician.
Thank you Terry for your service to this country and your continued service to the Hamilton County community.
