Good news from Aurora! Demolition day for our Aurora Beautification Company project at 915 South Hudson Street was Thursday. Thanks to our partners Doty Trash and Kenny Singer Construction this long-vacant, partially collapsed house is no more. Thanks to the City of Aurora, Missouri for supporting our work. ABC can only make these projects happen because our partners choose to invest in Aurora. Thank you!

The lot is now cleared and ready for new construction.

The neighbors tell us they are happy to see this eyesore removed. The neighborhood looks much better and feels more inviting.

Our House To Home renovation project at 204 W. College Street in Aurora moves forward. We recently demolished the partially-collapsed addition at the back of the house which was tacked-on sometime after the original house was built. The before/after pics tell the story.

Crews will be working to renovate the original house and add a new build at the back to expand the space. The Aurora Beautification Company is collaborating with Aurora Habitat for Humanity and Project RISE Aurora to improve Aurora one house at a time. Thanks to the City of Aurora, Missouri, Doty Trash and Kenny Singer Construction for their support!

Buildable vacant lots are up for auction now in Aurora!

The City of Aurora, Missouri recently listed 10 vacant residential lots for sale online via Govdeals.com. All these lots are 'buildable' meaning they meet the city's requirements that will allow a new house to be built on the lot. When Aurora Beautification Company cleared away the derelict house at 303 S. Elliott early in 2021 with the help of Doty Trash Service and Kenny Singer Construction, our hope was to see a new house built on that vacant, highly visible lot. We listed the lot, sold it, and now it's happening!

When folks drive down Elliott street today, they see a beautiful new house under construction. Good things are happening in Aurora!

In the 2 weeks since our last Aurora Beautification Company update we've seen a massive change at the Neill house project all thanks to our fabulous volunteers and generous donors.

The proof is in the photos below. The old deteriorated masonite siding is off. New chipboard and housewrap are on. New front and back doors were installed along with a new storm door. Six drafty rotted windows were removed, replaced by new energy efficient double hung windows.

Saturday our skilled local volunteers pictured here took the visuals up a notch by installing new siding on the west and north sides of the house. Expect to see new siding on the south and east soon along with matching low-maintenance soffit and facia all around.

Progress like this puts smiles on so many faces. Thanks for your support as we work together to beautify Aurora!

It's time for an update on the Neill house project we first posted about here back in March. Fundraising started in 2021, and we thank everyone who has contributed to the project, especially Elm Branch and Grace Lutheran churches for their support this weekend!

Tenacious volunteers removed damaged Masonite siding from all four sides of the house last Friday. Saturday's skilled team covered the house in new chipboard and house wrap. New windows and siding are on the way. Look for more progress soon.

Big things are happening at our 204 West College Street project house.

Exterior cleanup started Saturday when our fab volunteers attacked years of untrimmed overgrowth and accumulated trash. The vines-gone! The limbs-gone! The trash-gone! The house-visible!

Our ABC/Aurora Habitat for Humanity/Project RISE collaboration is off and running. Thanks for your support as we work together to beautify Aurora!

We’re excited to announce ABC has big plans for the house we’ve just purchased at 204 West College Street here in Aurora. We’re partnering with Aurora Habitat for Humanity and Project RISE Aurora to completely renovate this long-neglected little house with the intent of leasing it to members of the Project RISE Aurora program who will eventually purchase the home.

You’ll start seeing changes this weekend as volunteers begin cleaning up the overgrowth on Saturday morning, October 22. Reach out via Facebook if you'd like to get involved.

Our Aurora project is inspired by the Drew Lewis Foundation at The Fairbanks and their successful Blue House Project in Springfield.
