Our neighbors at Blounts Creek Volunteer Fire Department came out to welcome our new truck on Thursday. Their 6110 and our 6011, when put in service, will stand ready to serve our residents.

We're a couple of days late in posting this but our new apparatus has finally arrived home! 6011 was delivered to us Thursday. We will be installing the remaining equipment and begin training our members on it so we can put it in service as quickly as possible. Aurora VFD wants to thank Rob Rogers, Travis Mayo, the staff at Fire Connections Inc., and E-ONE Fire Trucks (Official Site) for helping turn our vision into a reality. The late Ronald Inge started the build with us and we wish he could be here to see the finished project.
This truck is the first one our department built and we tried to incorporate features that would help keep our members remain safe and that would help advance us well into the future. The truck it replaces as a front line apparatus is a 1983 Ford engine. This truck doubles the pump output from the older truck from 1000gpm to 2000gpm. Preconnected hoses are on the fromt bumper, eliminating the need for climbing on top of the truck to re-bed the hose. We also have preconnected hoses in the bed of the truck for larger fires or when the fires are farther away. Large diameter discharges will allow us to provide plenty of water to other apparatus if it becomes necessary
This is the first truck that we deviated from our traditional white and red color scheme. We went with black instead of red as a tribute to our Aurora High School. The Trojan mascot is on the door of the truck. AHS is part of the history of our town, and we wanted to help continue it's memory for years to come.
To commemorate the new truck and the high school, we had challenge coins created. We will include them in a separate post, along with photos and information on how to purchase them.

Good morning all. Recently, Aurora VFD, and several other Beaufort County volunteer fire departments, went through an extensive rating survey. This survey looks at our equipment, training, call responses, membership, county water supply, telecommunications, and several other items and then uses that information to help determine rates for homeowners insurance. We received the results from that inspection and we are happy to report that we have maintained our 5/9 rating. We improved our rating during the previous inspection (5 years ago) and were able to keep that lower rating for this current cycle as well.
We thank you, our community, for the support you have shown us over the years and we look forward to providing the professional and dedicated service you expect and deserve.

It was a pleasure and honor to be included in the recognition of first responders at the annual Aurora Night Out celebration this evening. Aurora Community Watch NC did an amazing job putting the event together and provided a delicious meal for all who attended. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in making tonight a success!

🚂🍑 ATLANTIC EXPRESS: SOMEBODY DONE RAN THE WHOLE DAMN TRAIN ON THE TROPICS 🍑🚂

Good LAWD… look at the Atlantic. 😭

There’s blobs lined up from Africa to America like somebody yelled “NEXT!” and forgot to lock the damn door. 😂

We got ConvectionClappage, MoistureMatrimony, and a whole belt of ThunderThottery stretching across the ocean.

Every wave coming off Africa looking confident as hell too… chest poked out, circulation half dressed, whispering “I’m different.” Sir, you have 14 thunderstorms and commitment issues. SIT DOWN.

Meanwhile the Atlantic done turned into a damn meteorological situationship convention. Everybody swirling, nobody committed, and somebody gonna wake up tomorrow wondering why the pressure dropped.

Well, the secret is out now. Aurora VFD will soon be taking delivery of a new apparatus! We have worked with Fire Connections Inc. and E-ONE Fire Trucks (Official Site) to design and build a new custom engine to replace our 1983 Ford custom cab. The designs have come from several other trucks we have seen, come from discussions with other agencies and their likes and dislikes, as well as countless hours of discussions amongst our members to come up with what we think will work best for us.

We incorporated lower hose access for both the hose bed and the reconnected attach hoses. We have 2 200ft 1-3/4" preconnected attack hoses in the front bumper, as well as another, and a preconnected 2-1/2" attack line in the hose bed.

A 2000gpm pump will provide water for firefighting. Large diameter discharges located on both sides of the truck will provide water supply to other apparatus if needed.

Besides this truck being a custom cab engine and not a commercial cab vehicle, the biggest change we went with on this is the color scheme. It's still a white fire truck, but instead of our traditional red and gold striping, we went with something different. Black and gold were the school colors for both Aurora High School as well as SW Snowden after it moved over to the high school building. Those black and gold colors are on our new engine, 6011, to pay tribute to our schools, the staff, and students. We also have one of the original AHS Trojans proudly displayed on the truck. Our schools may be part of Aurora's history, but Aurora VFD is doing it's part to make sure they are never forgotten!

We are still a few weeks away from taking delivery of the truck, but it will be representing Aurora VFD, Beaufort County, Fire Connections, amd E-One at the SAFRE conference in Raleigh this week if you want to see it.

Many thanks to our neighbors at Blounts Creek Volunteer Fire Department for hosting the grant that made this possible. We are very fortunate to have neighbors like them and Chocowinity Fire Department to team up with for opportu ities like this. Once these new breathing apparatus are put into service, we intend to pass our current inventory to other agencies so they can provide service for years to come.
