Wondering if you need to bring anything with you when you visit your neighborhood food shelf? Or maybe if that warm meal being served at the non-profit down the street is open to anyone?

Our St. Louis County Public Health team put together these handy guides, helping you answer those questions (and many others)!

🍎 Support Your Local Food Shelf 🍞

With the government shutdown disrupting SNAP benefits, many individuals and families in our community are facing even greater challenges putting food on the table. AEOA is proud to serve as the fiscal sponsor for eight local food shelves that are stepping up to meet this increased need, but they can’t do it alone.

When you give to a food shelf, your dollar goes further. Food shelves can stretch every $1 to provide multiple nutritious meals by purchasing in bulk at lower costs.

Your donation helps ensure local families have access to healthy food when they need it most. Please consider donating to a local food shelf:

Please consider donating food, money, or your time (volunteering) to the Aurora Area Food Shelf. Our neighbors are increasingly relying on our services.

For those who are looking for food resources we are open every Tuesday 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

From the article:
“Families are feeling a lot of different pressure points,” said Weeks of the state Department of Children, Youth, and Families. “You have increasing food prices, you have changes to health care and health care costs, you have changes in our labor economy, you have changes in rising housing prices. ... With these fluctuations, it does have a ripple effect across communities.”

As demand increases, food pantries struggle to keep up.

These are just two of the great warm meal options in our community, but there are also many others right in your neighborhood. We’ll keep sharing more of them right here in the coming days. But in the meantime, check out these guides to find food right in your neighborhood:

HELPFUL NEW TOOL: St. Louis County has created a new webpage, helping you track the latest developments on public assistance programs (like SNAP, WIC, and MFIP) and other services you rely on during the federal government shutdown.

🍎 It's also a one-stop shop with links to food shelves, prepared meals, and other resources right in your neighborhood that can help you feed your family.

🍎 We understand that news about the government shutdown and potential SNAP delays can be unsettling. If you or someone you know relies on SNAP benefits, now is the time to prepare.

Below are food resources to help if November benefits are disrupted:
