In leu of National airborne day, here’s a fresh video of a C-47 that was used at DDay 6 June 1944 and in every airborne mission throughout the entirety of WWII. It took no damage and almost everything in it, including equipment, is original. Even all of the paint. Sponsored by multiple VFW’s and VFW Auxiliaries in Ohio!

Tomorrow, 4 July, we hope to see you at the parade in the morning at 10 am and catch back up with us at the Post for food, drinks and friends! And PLEASE do not get drunk and drive. If you need to get silly drunk, do it at home and just pass out on your lawns like real Americans! 🤪🇺🇸

Flag Day at VFW Post 887 started with the ceremony to dispose of unserviceable flags that are ragged and worn out. Post veterans started with over 1500 cemetary size small flags, then moved on to over 500 larger flags. At 1pm we were joined by Troop 603 and with their participation redid the ceremony. They then assisted with more flags being properly disposed of getting larger in size and ending with a 40ft×50ft dealership flag. Many thanks to those who participated including an amazing patriotic Scout Troop. Sadly, we have 3 more 35 gallon trash bags full to do on another day and time.

VFW and Troop 603 participated in a community event placing flags at all Veterans at Coombs Cemetery today. Rain or shine, we honor those before us. Gone, but NEVER forgotten. God bless America. God bless us all! 🇺🇸
