Birding season is officially upon us in Maine 🐦🦅🦆

While winter birding has its many joys and surprises, spring brings thousands of migratory birds to Maine, presenting a wonderful opportunity for novice and seasoned birders alike to marvel at the roughly 300 species of birds that call Maine home.

If you live in Southern Maine and want to get outside and appreciate the many birds of Maine, go to Maine Audubon for more info on their weekly bird walks.

Birds in order of appearance: Scarlet Tanager, Baltimore Oriole, Great Egret, and Green Heron (plus some baby racoons).

As of 11:15 am today, on a partly to mostly cloudy day- solar is powering 39.8% of our grid in New England. Don't let people tell you solar doesn't work.

And (bonus points!) it is the second cheapest way to make electricity according to the 2025 Lazard Energy report used by the government. (Onshore wind is the cheapest).

----------------PETITION LINK IN COMMENTS-------------------

Just months after regulators rejected CMP’s last rate hike request, CMP is back with a proposal to collect $189 million more from Maine customers.

CMP is trying to frame this as a decrease in bills, but here’s what’s really happening: Customers were already expected to see their bills go down by about $11 per month as prior storm-related costs rolled off. Instead, CMP wants to impose temporary $7 per month rates starting this July, keeping much of that relief for itself.

If CMP’s full proposal is approved, the average residential customer would pay about $18 more per month. That adds up to about $216 per year.
