On Sunday, August 18, Dr. Jackie Perkins followed Jesus into his eternal rest. For those that knew him, they knew his love for the Lord, his wife and family, and those he shepherded and discipled through his long years of ministry. He loved the next generation and was passionate about the mission of reaching them himself or by empowering others to do so. This is why Mission NextGen, without hesitation, desires to celebrate Jackie’s life and to also help his bride of 51 years, LeAnne, in this time of need.

These last few years of medical expenses and now the cost of a funeral has taken its toll on LeAnne. James 1:27 teaches us that, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” To visit and see a need in the life of the now widow, we ask that those who love and care for LeAnne to help carry this financial burden with her and her family. So, with the family’s consent and guidance, Mission NextGen will be hosting a fund to which all can give to this worthy cause. 100% of the donations will be gifted to LeAnne Perkins to help with the need that she has to move forward without burden. Each gift is a tax-deductible gift for the donor and will be accountable to the board of Mission NextGen and the immediate family of Dr. Jackie Perkins. This is Erika. We are sad but there is so much grace in this hardship. Daddy is happy. He is home with Jesus. Pray for us as this was a shock.

Update on Jackie.  I want to thank all of my friends for all of the prayers, text, calls, and messages of sweet words of comfort and peace. It is so good to know that God‘s children are out there praying for Jackie and for me and my family, it helps me sleep better at night knowing you guys are there supporting and encouraging us.

I must also thank all of my healthcare friends. I had no idea that you guys even remembered me or ever thought of me. But I received so many responses concerning finding my husband a place to stay. I was so shocked when I woke up the next morning after my message on Facebook . So many people called, left messages, sent notes, sent texts, and offered suggestions. Because you guys remembered me I now have a very special place that my husband will be cared for. I would never have thought that this place would be a place I would have my husband in, but I have to tell you Pruitt health at Creekside is an absolutely gorgeous place! They have not been open long and they have very few residents right now. But my husband now has an beautiful private room in a wonderfully remodeled nursing home that has been in this community for years and years. Thank you so much, Jessica Love for reaching out to me. I cannot tell you how pleased I am to have my husband at your facility. My daughter says it looks more like a resort hotel than a nursing home and she is right! Although it is a bit out of the way, it is worth it knowing that this great staff is taking care of my beloved husband. Thank you to all who reached out to me with words of encouragement or offers of help. You guys are the best!!

SEVEN STEPS TO HAVING JOY
IN THE MOST DIFFICULT OF TIMES.
Consider it all joy in your Family. Joy is more than good feeling. True joy doesn't depend only on positive circumstances. True joy exists as an inner strength one may experience no matter what happens. Sometimes in family living, others may make you feel as if you have lost your joy. Though this negative reality is experienced by many, it doen not have to define you life. You have a right and a responsibility to be joyful in every situation. While this joy may be yours, you must realize how it can be obtained. Here's How:
1. Know that only Jesus lives with continual, authentic joy.
2. Jesus desires to give you His joy for your life.
3. To receive His joy you must submit yourself fully to Him
4. By faith, give your life over to Him for the rest of your life.
5. Know that negative circumstances are unavoidable and will surely come your way.
6. When they come, determine to trust Jesus, so His joy may freely come alive in you.
7. Wait and watch for Jesus to over flow His joy into your heart, even in the greatest of trials.
