Our annual spring Augusta Plein Air Art Festival will celebrate it's 20th year anniversary April 21st to April 30th, 2023. More than 150 artists from more than 10 states will be gathering in the Augusta/Defiance/ New Melle/Washington/Dutzow area to partake in the 19th Annual Augusta Plein Air Art Festival! Artists will be completing their pieces in the tradition of Plein Air (outdoors), capturing

the nuances of natural light in their work in small town Missouri. The rolling hills & woods of Augusta, Missouri will be dotted with springtime's ‘splashes of color' and one of Mother Nature's most picturesque settings will again serve as the perfect canvas for artists from across the country. Come and witness artists completing their pieces in the tradition of Plein Air (outdoors), capturing the nuances of natural light in their work. Last year guests were treated to 150+ artists from throughout the Midwest. Finally getting around to posting some of my work from the Augusta Plein Air Art Festival ... This is "Creekside Serenity" , 20x10, pastel on studio -made textured board. This was my submission for the Blast from the Past theme paint. The sponsors wanted us to paint somewhere we have painted during the event in past years that is a favorite. I love painting creeks, but Callaway Fork Creek is a special favorite of mine and always draws me back for the many beautiful views from the low water crossings along Callaway Fork Road. Painting there and along Little Bonne Femme Creek are a way for me to escape from the high energy, sometimes stressful, frenetic pace that is a Plein Air event. Although the sponsors chose another painting, this one is one of my all-time Plein Air favorites and I'm hopeful it will find a happy home. Tap on the photo to see the entire painting!
