Poetry Matters Project Mission Statement: we build community connection through collaboration under the guise of poetry. On this page you will find postings for other poetry contest.

This mission has been kept us going for twenty six years and counting. Founded in August 2013, the Poetry Matters Project grew from over 13 years of programming to increase the awareness of all things poetic across diverse cultural lines. It began as a literary contest in the local school systems of Richmond and Columbia Counties in Georgia. Project participants began reviewing ways that would all

ow us to grow and meet the needs of all ages and stages of poets and other literary audiences with which we now interact. Information on our programs and ways to connect with other poetry minded collaborators.

🎉 We are delighted to announce the longlists for the 2025 National Translation Awards (NTA) in Poetry and Prose!

2025 marks the 27th year for the NTA, and the 11th year to award separate prizes in poetry and prose. The shortlists for the NTA will be announced on October 9, and the winners will be announced on November 6 at an Awards Ceremony as part of ALTA’s annual conference, ALTA48: Visions and Versions in Tucson, AZ. The winning translators will receive a $4,000 cash prize each.

The 2025 NTA longlists feature authors writing in 12 different languages and books from 21 different presses. This year’s prose judges are George Henson, Hoyoung Moon, Ilze Duarte, Manjushree Thapa, and Peter Constantine. This year’s judges for poetry are Conor Bracken, Dongshin Chang, and Rachel Galvin.
