Augusta Arts Council The Augusta Arts Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the arts in our area — and operating the 1935 Augusta Historic Theatre.

Formed in September of 1975 as an outgrowth of the local PRIDE committee, the Augusta Arts Council has existed in the community as a driving and preserving force for the local arts. In September 1989 AAC purchased the Augusta Theatre to preserve the facility as a movie theater, offering quality, affordable entertainment for the public - as well as to enhance its historical and architectural value

to the community. Through the efforts of the AAC, the Theatre was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in October of 1990. Today, the Theatre is the home of AAC's administrative office and the site of many of its programs. Over 23,000 patrons come through our doors each year, not only for movies and the Council's programming, but for a variety of activities generated by other community organizations, schools and individuals.

You know how home repairs always seem to take longer than expected? Now imagine trying to repair an 80-year-old system. That's the adventure we're on right now!
Our HVAC is currently auditioning for a role on the Dark Side, but our team is working hard to bring balance back to the Force. In the meantime, the auditorium is holding at a respectable 77°.
So grab your handheld fan, your favorite cooling gadget, or a Tauntaun (if you've got one handy) and join us for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu!
The Force may not be strong with our air conditioning today, but it's definitely strong with this movie. Thanks for your patience, and we'll see you at the show!
