“I was super excited to learn about something I thought was years beyond me in school.”

That reflection from a South Portland High School student captures the impact of the Youth Doula Initiative, an Extended Learning Opportunity that introduced students to careers in maternal health, pediatrics, and public health.

Through hands-on learning and community partnerships, students gained knowledge, explored career pathways, and developed skills that will support future education and career decisions.

We’re proud to see JMG Specialist Justine Carlisle and the Youth Doula Initiative featured by the Maine Department of Education. Thank you to Tara Campbell of and all those who helped make this opportunity possible.
