Seasonal Flu Shots

MEA Benefits Trust works with Anthem and your local health care providers, or your school health services, to provide annual flu shot clinics.

Every MEA Benefits Trust plan includes 100% coverage for preventive benefits, including flu shots, to help members and their families stay healthy. The flu shot is free for MEA Benefits Trust members who get the flu shot at a school clinic, and there's no charge to the school district. Again this year, members can choose to get their flu shot at a school clinic, doctor's office or a retail clinic. It's very important that infants and children, seniors, pregnant women, travelers and people who have a weak immune system due to a disability or health issue get the vaccine.

Members who are on Medicare be sure to use your Medicare card to obtain your vaccination at no cost as a covered benefit.

Members can go to any Wal-Mart, Hannaford, Shaw's, Walgreen's and CVS that are holding a flu clinic, to receive your flu shot at no charge. Be sure to present your MEABT/Anthem insurance ID card as the vaccination is a covered benefit.

ANTHEM NOTICE ABOUT SIDNEY APP

Sydney Care mobile app can help members assess their potential risk for COVID-19

I recently shared some exciting news about the Sydney CareSM mobile app and how it would help members understand their symptoms and connect with a doctor through a telehealth session. Here's an update on the app and how members can use it.

Members can now assess their symptoms and potential risk for COVID-19 using the free Sydney Care mobile app. It's fast, easy, and they don't have to leave home to do it.

The app is available for iOS and Android devices. Members can download it from the App Store® or Google Play™ and get started in just minutes.

They can assess their symptoms and, if needed, the app will connect them to a doctor through a Virtual Care text session or a LiveHealth Online video chat session right from their phone.

Members can get one Virtual Care text session for free. Additional Virtual Care text visits cost $19 each. Members can use LiveHealth Online at no cost through June 14, 2020. If LiveHealth Online isn't part of your plan's benefits, they may have out-of-pocket expenses for this service after June 14, 2020. Most plans include telehealth as part of their benefits. We'll also waive cost sharing for phone or video telehealth visits with doctors in members' plans.

We'll continue to keep you updated on COVID-19 coverage and health plan news as it emerges. Check our COVID-19 web page for the latest news.

Sincerely,

Pete D. Haytaian
Executive Vice President and President
Commercial and Specialty Business Division

Important facts about coronavirus COVID-19
Here’s what it is, how you can prevent it, and what your plan covers
There’s a lot in the news lately about coronavirus and COVID-19. Here’s some information you can use to help protect yourself
and the people you care about.
About coronavirus COVID-19
What is coronavirus and COVID-19?
Coronavirus is a type of virus that causes respiratory illness — an infection of the airways and lungs. COVID-19 is a new
strain of coronavirus. It’s part of the same family of coronaviruses that includes the common cold.
What are the symptoms?
The most common early symptoms appear between 2 and 14 days after infection. Symptoms can be mild to severe.
They include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
How does the virus spread?
Like many other viruses, coronavirus seems to spread from person-to-person through a cough, sneeze, or kiss.
What is the risk?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that the risk in the U.S. is still low. They will update the
status regularly at their website at cdc.gov/coronavirus.
How to protect yourself
Frequent hand-washing is the most
effective way to protect yourself from
infection. Other good habits to practice
include covering your mouth and nose
with a tissue when you cough and
sneeze, and cleaning frequently touched
items such as phones, keyboards, and
doorknobs to help remove germs.
What your Anthem benefits will cover
Your Anthem health plan will cover the
care you get if you’re diagnosed as
having corona virus COVID-19, based on
your plan’s benefits, unless otherwise
determined by state law or regulation.
It’ll also cover testing for COVID-19. You’ll
pay any out-of-pocket expenses your plan
requires.
What to do if you have symptoms
Call your doctor if you develop a
fever, have a cough, or have difficulty
breathing. And let them know if you’ve
been in close contact with a person
known to have COVID-19, or if you live
in or have recently traveled to an area
where the virus has spread. You can
also check to see if your plan offers
telehealth benefits to see a doctor
online. If you think you’re infected,
using telehealth helps to prevent
spreading a virus.
