Blind Date with a Book Fundraiser, Coming in mid-October!

Do you enjoy surprises? Looking for a cute gift? Purchase a Blind Date with a Book with the knowledge that it benefits The Friends of Lithgow Library.

In addition to a gently-used book, you will receive all sorts of goodies! There will be a variety of books to choose from, and each book will have a basic phrase to give you a hint as to the book’s identity/genre. Prices will vary from $15 to $25 per book. Ask at the Circulation Desk to look at the choices!

This fundraiser will be CASH or Venmo only while supplies last.

As part of Lithgow Library's 130th Anniversary celebrations, the Friends of Lithgow Library proudly sponsor this year's "A Capital Read" featuring popular author Monica Wood. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 30th, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Both the reception and lecture are free and open to the public; however, advance registration is required. The registration deadline is Monday, September 21st, and there are only 13 seats still available.

This September, Lithgow Public Library invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month and discover how a library card can hit all the right notes, no matter what your tastes are!

With a library card, you can do more than check out books. From free classes and job resources to homework help, streaming media, a library of things, and cultural events, today’s libraries connect communities to information, inspiration, and each other.

An initiative of the American Library Association, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September since 1987 to mark the beginning of the school year, combat illiteracy, and encourage communities everywhere to explore all the offerings that having a library card unlocks. Today, thousands of public libraries and schools nationwide participate in the month-long celebration each fall.

This year’s theme, “A Library Card Hits All the Right Notes,” is a reminder that libraries offer something for everyone—no matter your age, background, or goals. Whether you’re checking out a classic story or trying something new, finding harmony at the library’s programs, finding your focus in a study room or vibing out in a cozy nook, or composing your future with new skills, there’s a seat in the front row at the library for you, and your library card is the ticket.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our recent book and bake sales through donations and purchases. Your generosity helped make this event one of our most successful yet. We also extend a special thank you to the many volunteers whose time and talents were essential to making everything possible.

There are still so many great titles left. Today, from 11-2, come fill a bag for $5.00!

Bags should be no larger than a grocery bag. This EXCLUDES all books with white, orange and red dots and “make an offer” books.

Today is the last day of our Annual Book Sale. We still have a large selection of books so stop by from 9AM to 2 PM and help support Lithgow Public Library.

😍📚Here's an exciting sneak peek of the book sale! 🤫😃 There are so many great books...thank you for all your donations and thank you to the Friends of Lithgow Library for all of their hard work in making this sale possible! 🥰 There will be a preview tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 12th, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for a $20 fee. The fee does not cover the costs of books purchased.
The sale will be held:
Thursday, August 13th ~ 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday, August, 14th ~ 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, August 15th ~ 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The sale is cash or Venmo only, by donation, to support the Friends’ Museum and Pass Program, Live at Lithgow summer concert series, A Capital Read, and other library programs.

There will also be a Bake Sale on Thursday, August 13th from 9 a.m. until all the goodies are gone! Cash Only.

Our Annual Book and Bake Sale are back! Please visit the library to support the Friends of Lithgow and our fundraising efforts. The proceeds help fund important library programs and other essential needs. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy great books and delicious baked goods while contributing to the community.
