Today was a GREAT AFA day. AFJROTC instructor Ed Berenguer, of Brantley County High School, was presented the Teacher of the Year Award for East Georgia AFA. I was invited to present this amazing instructor his award during their summer STEM camp, in front of his cadets and prospective cadets, colleagues and school administrators. Sgt Berenguer lead students in bottle rocket launches, where they measured apogee with altitreks, launching Estes rockets on the football field, senior cadet staff mentoring new cadets in drone operations and then gathering for the award ceremony. This is the best part of the AFA year: shining the spotlight on deserving STEM educators. 🇺🇸👏🏼🚀

East Georgia AFA in Action in collaboration with the amazing people at Dobbins Care Campus and sponsorship from AFA’s United Forces and Families.

Members of the 94th Airlift Wing at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, Ga., rallied to raise awareness for physical and mental well-being among Reserve Airmen, by running in the 10th Annual Falcon 5K Run on May 2.

This is what AFA looks like!! Saturday, May 2, 2026, was the 10th annual Falcon 5K for Mental Health Awareness at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, Georgia. East Georgia AFA and sponsorship from Air & Space Forces Association’s United Forces & Families partnered with the Dobbins ARB Care Campus for this fantastic event. We had a huge turnout and my heart is full. I finally met my virtual colleagues, Tony Davoile and Jen Bortman, in person. We did everything by email, text and video calls for this event. I discovered that Tony and I have the same playlist, as he ran Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind and Fire through the sound system all morning. Everyone was jamming! 🎶 Hello “Boogie Wonderland!! The soundtrack of my youth. The mental health community vendors, the military and veterans affairs and base support teams showed up to represent well. Tony’s 14 year old son won the race with a smoking hot time of 20:02! Official post to come soon so watch this space.

The toast honors the memory of the 80 Airmen, led by Gen. Jimmy Doolittle, who on April 18, 1942 launched 16 B-25B bombers from an aircraft carrier to strike mainland Japan.
