Our Troop performed our Messengers of Peace Day of Service today. In summary, we performed a valuable service project for a local West Virginia organization that will have a lasting benefit on the community long after we leave. Over the course of the Jamboree, every Troop and Crew will do a day of service with a local organization. Our project was to clear brush and removed felled trees from a future camp property for Young Life. It include a 30 minute hike to the remote location overlooking the Gauley River. You can be proud of your Scouts - they did a great job! ⚜️

Reminder that we will be sleeping on the bus. If you need any items to sleep with, like a blanket, please make sure you have that with you as you get on the bus. You will not be able to get to your Jamboree bag until we are at the Summit.

Just remember everything should fit all in the Jamboree bag and your day pack. Everyone has the same Jamboree bag, so make sure you are tagging your bag so you can identify it when you arrive. It is also a great idea to put your name on things you want to keep, it is easy to lose things while you are around 30K other scouts. You should be able to transport everything you bring in one trip from the bus to the campsite. The campsite can be up to 1/2 mile away from the bus.

We also will be collecting one canned food item as you get on the bus. This is part of the Jamboree food drive that the entire Jamboree will be participating in.

If you have any questions over the next two weeks, please contact one of the leaders and we will be happy to assist you.

Check your email for an important update that was sent earlier this evening. With 3 weeks until we get on the bus, the Jamboree Committee will be sending frequent emails, so please check your inbox regularly. (If you aren't receiving the emails, please contact your Jamboree unit leader)

Our final pre-Jamboree meeting for Georgia-Carolina Council participants was scheduled for Thursday June 29 at 6:00 PM. However, for many of you there is simply no need to attend. The date will stay on the calendar for a 6:00 drop-in gathering at the Scout office, but only for those who need to do any of the following:
1. pay remaining Jamboree fees (the total is $1,425 plus $65 for whitewater rafting if applicable).
2.Submit a paper copy of your BSA medical forms and insurance cards.
3.Submit copies of your swim test certification.
4.Submit a copy of your whitewater rafting parental release (if applicable)
5.Pick-up any remaining items such as jamboree patches, t-shirts, or duffel bags (if paid in full)
6.Ask any one-on-questions to your Jamboree leaders.

Naturally, many of the items above can be done via email, phone, or at the Scout Office prior to June 29 - potentially eliminating the need to come to the drop-in on the 29th.

In addition, the Augusta Scout Shop will be open until 8:00 PM that same evening for any last minute Scouting purchases.

Those from the P*e Dee Area Council, please check with Mr. Hall on any final instructions or details, especially regarding transportation to Columbia to meet the bus on July 18.
