GEAR UP Maine

GEAR UP Maine Transforming futures Nineteen Maine school districts have participated in this federal grant program.

Since 1999, Maine’s GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) Program has been helping create sustainable cultures in Maine’s schools that support students from economically disadvantaged households in preparing for, accessing, and succeeding in postsecondary education. The GEAR UP program has been successful in supporting participating schools in increasing their

college-going culture; raising expectations among GEAR UP students, families, and staff that all students can plan for and be successful in postsecondary education; and academic preparation for postsecondary success.

Two days, lots of math talk, fresh classroom ideas and one fantastic group of Maine educators! 📐🎉

As Building Confident Math Classrooms wraps up today, we’re celebrating all the learning, laughter and collaboration that filled the room. Dr. Bea Moore Luchin worked alongside educators as they explored practical ways to help students work through challenging math, share their thinking and build confidence.

Thank you to Bea and every educator who joined us in Bangor. We can’t wait to see these ideas come to life in classrooms across Maine! 💡
