Luke 24:13–35

Title: "Pulling up on Your Emmaus Road."
Have you ever thought that during your time of uncertainty, Jesus walks with you; yet you may not recognize Him? That’s what Luke 24:13-35 brings to us this third Sunday of Easter.

Jesus joined Cleopas and an unnamed disciple who were walking away after witnessing the crucifixion. They were absconding on hitting their “rock-bottom” of hope. They thought it was better to return to square one - escape the stressful milieu of Jerusalem. But when you are really helpless is when Jesus comes, set your heart on fire with everlasting hope.
For those AWOL disciples, Jesus retold the old story of the prophets to open their understanding of the situation. Their hearts were warmed such that, on recognizing their living Lord, they were immediately reinvigorated. Though it was dark they couldn’t hold their excitement but cut short their escape due to the “Strange Intruder.” Their encounter with the living Lord replaced their fear with renewed spirit, prompting them to rush back and inform the other disciples.

Friends, Jesus does the same for us when we are in our doldrums. We may be unaware but he surely does. Here is how: whenever we dig into God's Word, it sets our hearts on fire and gives us an unquenchable desire to tell the story like those disciples. Jesus comes when we are in “Waterloo;” and figures our way out. He waits not for invitation, He comes to our aid.

By reading His Word (Scripture), He rekindles, transforms and our healing begins. His Holy Spirit restructures our priorities over life’s situations. When Jesus joined those run-aways on their Emmaus Road, He clarifies their confusion using scripture. He repeated the prophecies from the Word, which they knew but did not understand.

The same happens today in our lives when we spend time reading God’s word. Jesus walks with us. Our hearts are warmed and faith rekindled and strengthened like those Emmaus walkers. So, when you are walking on your Emmaus road of challenges, take a journey in God’s Word. There you will find Him. He will surely speak fears and confusion away. And more importantly, He will transform your situation and warm your heart again. Blessed be the risen Lord. Amen.

Matthew 3:1-12
Sermon title: Preparing the Way.
This is a call to genuine repentance. True repentance requires genuine change of heart, meaning bearing fruits that prove it (not faking religion).
Secondly, preparation involves being humble to recognize ones for Christ’s supremacy through the Holy Spirit.
Finally, judgment is coming. However, Christ’s judgment stands together with grace. He offers grace that is why the Lord is patient with us. He wants no one to perish (2Peter3:9).
When John preached in the wilderness, Israel savored ethnic privilege and religious ritual not genuine faith, which Joh the Baptist challenged as he recognized Jesus as the fulfillment of God’s promises.
For us today’s Christians, we face similar temptations - relying on church rituals, family heritages, or moral behavior rather than authentic relationship with Christ. True preparedness means examining our hearts, producing fruits worthy of repentance and being humbly reliant on Jesus.
We can assess our spiritual fruits in our life and confess areas of complacency and presumption. Also cultivating the humility of dependence on Christ and awareness of his grace and accountability.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for sending John to prepare the way for Jesus to transform our hearts. Help us produce fruits worthy of repentance and recognition that of our complete dependence on your grace. Make us humble and feel compelled to share your good news. Amen.

Mark 7:27-28
“The Little Crumb that Feeds Hunger.”
Did she say Jesus is the crumbs under the table? Hmmm, by contemporary geographical description, this woman might be from Gaza or the west banks. Ancient Israelites, if not current ones, regarded Syrophoenicians as heathens. It’s no surprise Jesus says,
“First let the children be satisfied, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs,” (verse 27, RV). Nonetheless, her stunning reply,
“Yes, Lord, for even the little dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters table,” (verse 28, RV).
She referred to the Lord as the Crumb under the table. Actually, Jesus is the bread of life, isn’t it? Using the title “The Little Crumb that Feeds Hunger,” Jesus came to his own, but they threw him under the table as crumbs. He was rejected, disregarded, and dejected by his own people. They treated him with lips and not their heart. We cannot say it louder that Jesus only deals with the heart. Neither the lips-service nor vain worship, hypocrisy or the self-righteousness can. Similarly, someone said heaven has nothing to do with materialism on moral matters. So, since his own rejected him, he traveled to Gentile land where the mother of demon-possessed daughter saw his credibility and called him Lord when Israel could not. Pleading Jesus’ intervention, he outrightly rejected her plea. But her reply marveled the Lord to say: “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you as you wish.”

She indirectly referred to Jesus as the crumbs under the table which the dogs could feed on. The self-righteous never called him Lord or believed even after witnessing his miracles. This outsider had faith in Him as the crumbs that feed the hungry and heal the sick. Truly, Jesus is the small piece of good-eating-bread thrown under Israel’s table to feed the hungry. This Bread is the Bread of Heaven. This woman accepted the “Dog-nickname” of her Lord without fuzz for the deliverance of her possessed daughter. Many of us would not!

“Behold, behold! We never knew Jesus is the crumbs of bread thrown under Israel’s table.” The crumb heals, delivers, liberates, and feeds until we want no more. He is the King of all kings and Lord of all lords. He rules as the King from heaven. He feeds us with Himself, the Bread of Life. Anyone, who nourishes of that “breadcrumb” fallen from Israel’s table leads to heaven. Jesus is the crumb that eyes those marginalized as woke, diverse, ill-prepared or underachievers. These labels may injure your pride to deprive, dismiss or devalue your worth. But I pass by to let you know that Jesus eyes and feeds you. He is the crumb that fills you with everlasting joy. He is the crumb you need today and always. Do you know Him? He is Jesus, the Man of Calvary. He died for your sins. Do you accept Him like this woman? He'll guide you if you dedicate your life to Him. Hang in there, your help is on the way. Amen.

Hello there! Whoever or wherever you may be at this moment, Romans 12:12 is a timeless gem for you. It has been a precious gem for generations. Whatever walk of life, applying Romans 12:12 in your life situations is very healthy. It says: "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." - Romans 12:12 (ESV). If I can borrow a title, it is “Finding Strength in Hopelessness.”

Paul encourages us in the verse that, being hopeful is fundamental to the Christian faith. It is having confidence that God will always fulfill his promises. As Christians, we anchor our faith in God. God is real! He always gives us the reason to rejoice. God always shows up at the appropriate time. Our circumstances may be desperate and hopeless. However, because God is on our side, we got a reason to rejoice. Conditions may not be positive for moments, but God’s character is unchanging. His plan, which is good for us, will come to reality.
So, we dig in hope and perseverance and dependent on God’s will. As such, no hardship or conflict can melt us down. Instead, they strengthen us to growth. That is why we devote our energies on constant prayers.

Prayer connects us to lean on God's strength alone. Especially during life’s storms ways. Prayer serves as a guide, and it strengthens us. It focuses our direction and transforms our walk with Christ. This results into victory in all of life’s situations.

To conclude, Romans 12:12 calls us to rejoice in hope, persevere in tribulation. Whatever condition we may be in, we should be devoted in prayer in always. These vibrant virtues make us thrive in the strength of the Lord. They transform us into a beacon of hope and strength in a hopeless world. Amen.

Psalm 62:9 says, "Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath."

This verse says that, we humans are worth only the breath in us; not the status or achievement. Our personality depends on the breath God put in us, and what we look like in God’s eye. We may be aflluent or not. Rich or poor; lettered or not. What matters is our relationship with God.

Therefore, be encouraged that God got your back. Trust God always and cast your confidence in the Lord.

Material wealth or your level of achievement matter less. Remember that, everything in life is temporary. Your worth and security depend on a good relationship with God.

Today is Thanksgiving Day. On this day, Psalm 100 serves our thought line. The Psalmist calls us to worship and give thanks to God. Very correct.

The core substance of the Psalmist’s call is we must recognize God's sovereignty. Second, we are called to serve God with joy. Thirdly, to express our gratitude for His blessings.
In so doing, we are to proclaim His goodness, mercy, and truth. So, let us respond to this vital call with a heart full of joy and gratitude.

Be it therefore resolved that we will make a joyful noise unto the Lord. We will serve God with gladness whenever we enter His presence. In the presence, or not, we will always heave more thanks and praise-adoration to God.

We are oblige to do so because the Lord is good. The Lord’s mercy for us is everlasting.

Finally, the truth of the Lord will endures to all generations. And so, Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Amen.

Isaiah 12:4-5
“The Reason We Proclaim God.”
Isaiah 12:4-5 calls us to a lifestyle occupation of worship, to evangelize and celebrate God’s goodness. This call urges us to live our lives as such that, we are continuously praising God and sharing His word. Also, we are called to celebrate God’s goodness.
Moreover, the call on our lives is to be a testament that is worthy of God's love and grace. In other words, our entire life should shine with His light in the world.

The two verses call believers to action. Firstly, believers are to give the praises due to God, and to make others to know of God’s kindness to us. This is not just a call to worship, but a call to a lifestyle through the words we speak, our actions we take, and the thoughts kept in our mind. They should be a testament to our love and reverence to God at all times. Do you want to know how to do it? Here it is:
1. Speak God’s word to others. Be a witness for God. You are to show others how God is working in our lives, and that God can also work in their lives, if they turn their lives over to God.
2. We are importantly, spreaders of God’s word to the entire world.
3. Finally, we are to always sing praises or celebrate God’s endless glory. Sing about God’s marvelous love and goodness in the songs and psalms we sing. The songs and psalms are in recognition and appreciation of God’s goodness.
Indeed, God is good to you and me. He is good to everyone. His greatness is revealed in His love for the world when he sacrificed Jesus Christ for the redemption of the world. Amen.

May I encourage you to not only read this message but to strive to live it and share this good news to others. Let these two verses occupy your daily life. Be bold and proclaim God's greatness in season and out of season to others. Do it intentionally wherever you are. Amen.

2 Timothy 3:15-17

The Transforming Power of Scripture.

As I delve into 2 Timothy 3:15-17, I beg to offer the following points for your consideration:

1. For centuries Scripture continues to transform believers. It does so today like never before. It transformed Abraham and Moses of the Old. It transformed Saul the great Christian persecutor to Paul the greatest Christian evangelist. You are not obliged to understand scripture. Just have faith as small as a muster seed, it can melt away the biggest mountain of obstacles of your life.

2. Scripture is worthy for everyone to study. Those who studied scripture experienced a change in their worldview of life. It converted their disbelief to one of a disciple. When you encounter scripture, you will never be the same again.

3. Scripture reveals God’s power. Through scripture we see Jesus change water into the best wine, walk on water, calm a furious storm and even brought a dead man back to life. Even hungry lions had their mouth sealed. We see the blind and sick regain wholeness, and even Jesus resurrect from the grave. It erased Paul’s belief in tradition and replaced it with a transformative power of teaching the Word converting millions into the Christian Church today.

4. Scripture comes from God. It is God’s approved Word breathed out into the world. It is sharper than a double-edged sword. It pierces the hardest hearts and leave them never the same again. So, it profits anyone to try the transforming power of scripture to learn about the wonders, greatness, and completeness of God’s Word. Experience its impactful power, and the lasting effect on your knowledge of God’s power.

In conclusion, it is unwise to underestimate the power of scripture. God’s word is living and active in all generations. It transforms, equips, approves, pierces, and shapes lives. It diligently brings God’s truth to a chaotic and indifferent, and dying world. Commit to diligently study and apply God's Word. You will be like a tree planted by the river. It will reshape your life forever. Amen.
