We were proud to attend Maine Nonprofit Day at the Maine State House yesterday — a great day celebrating and advocating for the important work nonprofits do across Maine. 💜

Non-profits from all over the state gathered in Augusta on Tuesday for a day of celebration, networking, and conversation with lawmakers and each other.

Syntiro Executive Director Jess Berry attended Maine Association of Nonprofits’ Together for Good event in Portland this week — a day filled with insight, collaboration, and conversations about strengthening Maine’s nonprofit sector.

Jess returned with fresh ideas that will help us continue expanding access, strengthening opportunities, and supporting individuals, families, and communities across Maine. 💙

Welcome Ashleigh!

Join us in welcoming Ashleigh Gordon to our School Specialist team!

Ashleigh is a Maine native with a lifelong love for learning. An alum of Waterville Senior High School, Ashleigh went on to receive an Associate's degree in Mental Health from Kennebec Valley Community College. Ashleigh spent a decade supporting Mainers in a variety of roles in the mental health field, including case management, direct support, and crisis intervention. Eventually tackling school again as a non-traditional adult learner, Ashleigh received a Bachelor's in Nutrition from Purdue Global, and before long, a Master's in Instructional Design and Technology. Ashleigh transitioned her career from Mental Health to Higher Education and spent three years supporting environmental students as a Baccalaureate Advisor. In their time as a Baccalaureate Advisor, Ashleigh operated as a "one-stop shop" for their students and became an expert in registration and degree planning, grad school preparation, internships, financial aid, billing, alternate loans, and career planning.

Meet Matt Grillo, 1 of 3 new School Specialists here on the GEAR UP Maine RISE team! 👋

Matt has spent the last 20 years working in education, supporting students, families, and schools at both secondary and post-secondary institutions. As a Dean of Students for 14 years, he brings a wealth of experience in student advisement, retention strategies, and student success initiatives. His background includes roles as a dormitory director and ESL teacher. Each role reinforces his deep commitment to nurturing student growth, especially among rural learners. Matthew holds an M.S. in Educational Leadership and a B.S. in Educational Studies.
