We kicked off another year of mentoring, and we are already excited about what’s ahead!
One thing we’re intentional about at Precious Pearls Mentoring is making sure our youth have a voice in what they experience.
It’s easy for adults to do all the planning. We can pick the topics, create the activities, make the calendar and say, “Alright y’all, here’s what we’re doing!” But there is something jaw dropping that happens when we ask our youth, “What matters to YOU? What do YOU want to talk about? What would YOU like to experience this year?”
Because their voice matters. Their ideas matter. Their input matters. And when young people have a hand in creating the spaces they’re part of, they begin to take ownership of those spaces too.
Our Pearls came up with their own discussion topics and event ideas, and yall…they have PLANS!
We’re looking forward to a year filled with meaningful conversations, new experiences, lots of laughter, leadership, connection, and GROWTH.
