10th Annual Maine Military & Community Network Conference

The Maine Military and Community Network is proud presents the 10th Annual Conference: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion on Thursday, June 16, 2022.
The opening keynote speaker, Dr. David Howes, MD, will address the importance of engaging patients in their own health care, a philosophy he brought to Martin’s Point Health Care in 1989 as a primary care physician. Dr. Howes has served as the President and CEO of Martin Point Health Care since 1996.
The morning continues with Jennifer Dane, CEO of the Modern Military Association of America - the nation’s largest non-profit organization working to advance fairness and equality for the LGBTQ military and veteran community. She currently serves as a founding board member of Partners in PROMISE, a Vet Policy Fellow, and an Executive Producer of the short film Red Skies.
Afternoon breakouts will include presentations from both Catholic Charities and Tri County Mental Health. There will be a briefing on Military 101 and several panel presentations including the “Four Chaplains”, a Native American Veterans Panel and Veteran Voices on the Homefront Panel.
There will be military and veteran informational and networking opportunities throughout the day.
To wrap up the day, there will be a final briefing on How to Apply for Veteran Benefits presented by the Maine Bureau of Veteran Services.
Conference Objectives:
• Engage civilian communities into the reintegration of veterans and service members.
• Increase the awareness among service members, veterans and providers of issues and opportunities related to the well being of those who have served in the military.

The registration fee of includes workshop attendance, 5 continuing education credits and lunch.
This is an in-person event. Some of the morning sessions will be live streamed. Registration and payment is required for access. Continuing education certificates are NOT available for virtual option.

This technology allows Veterans to schedule video meetings in the comfort of their homes, using their own devices (e.g., smartphone, computer, laptop, tablet, etc.) for questions or updates about their VA benefits.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Seeds of Hope and York County MMCN Veteran Su***de Prevention Task Force, have had to move the date of the safeTALK Su***de Prevention/Intervention program training. The new date is TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1. This training will be held at Seeds of Hope (35 South St. Biddeford, ME), from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. (although it will likely end around 7:30 p.m.). All safety precautions will be in place: masks, physical distancing, light evening meal will be professionally prepared and individually wrapped using all disposable products.

If you are interested in taking this training, now is the time! It won’t be offered in our area for at least another year.
