Today we the Patriot Riders Maine Chapter 4 , honorord the beautiful life of JoAnn Miller , (88 ) She was one of the three Flag Ladies who stood with her friends on Main Street in Freeport every Tuesday for 18 years. They started the tradition after the 9/11 attacks to honor the military and those who died in the attacks.
Elaine Greene, ( shaking hands in pictures) now the only living member of the group, said they started their tradition of waving flags after then-President George W. Bush asked people to step out of their homes one night and light candles following the deadly terrorist attack. They would go on to stand every Tuesday.
What an absolute Honor to see everyone come out today to celebrate her life , as we stood near brothers and sisters who have served, continue to serve ,will serve . Thank you for your service.
