Maine Veterans’ Home is a mission-driven, not-for-profit organization, committed to exceptional service and personalized care. We are hiring for our new state-of-the-art facility, opening late 2021. MVH – Augusta will be the first of its kind in Maine to deliver long-term care though the small house model. This model is organized around the philosophy, “nothing about me without me”, providing true resident directed care. The campus will consist of 4 villages, with two to four “houses” per village.

Each house has 10 to 15 private rooms and bathrooms, clustered around a living room, dining room, den, and kitchen. Open floor plans eliminate long hallways as every room opens up to a common space, promoting connectivity and community. The design looks and feels more like someone’s home rather than your traditional nursing facility.

Each household has a team of multi-skilled staff that help create an environment that encourages residents to be active participants in their lifestyle choices, care and treatments. This innovative care model results in a higher quality of life for our residents and greater job satisfaction for our employees.

We have also provided our residents with destinations, similar to places they once frequented in their community. Main Street, in our Community Center, has a movie theater, bistro and ice cream parlor, chapel, kids play area, barber shop and Veterans’ Club.

You won’t believe it until you see it!

The role of the Activities Aide is to assist in providing meaningful activities to our residents. Activities include inside and outside areas, as well as planned community activities.

This is a part-time position, 18-20 hours per week, rotating weekends and holidays.
