Audubon FFA

Audubon FFA The letters "FFA" stand for Future Farmers of America; however, in 1988 the official name of the org

Founded in 1928, the Future Farmers of America brought together students, teachers and agribusiness to solidify support for agricultural education. In Kansas City's Baltimore Hotel, 33 young farmboys charted a course for the future. They could not have foreseen how the organization would grow and thrive. Since 1928, millions of agriculture students - no one knows exactly how many - have donned the

official FFA jacket and championed the FFA creed. FFA has opened its doors and its arms to minorities and women, ensuring that all students could reap the benefits of agricultural education. Today, the National FFA Organization remains committed to the individual student, providing a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Now, the organization is expanding the nation's view of "traditional" agriculture and finding new ways to infuse agriculture into the classroom.

We made it home!

Audubon FFA members are back from an incredible week at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis!

A huge thank you to Jake Hildebrand and Hawkeye Stages for getting our group of 50 safely to every stop, on time, and for joining in on all the fun along the way. We truly appreciate the safe travels, laughter, and support throughout the week!

It was great spending the trip with our friends from E-EHK, Harlan, Carroll Area, and ACGC FFA Chapters—so many memories and laughs shared among members and advisors alike!

Fun fact: Our driver, Jake, is Mrs. Elmquist’s first cousin! He’s been driving this National Convention trip for years, continuing a long family tradition. Our aunt even shared a newspaper clipping from the Columbus Gazette’s “60 Years Ago” section showing our grandfather taking FFA members to the National FFA Convention in Kansas City when he was an advisor.

What a full-circle FFA story—and another great year in the books!

Part 2 – Convention Fun in Indy!

Thursday was another awesome day at the National FFA Convention & Expo in downtown Indianapolis! Members kicked things off bright and early at Lucas Oil Stadium for the Opening Session, where motivational speaker A’ric Jackson brought the energy and reminded everyone to believe in themselves and chase their dreams.

After that, it was time to explore the Career Expo and FFA Shopping Mall — thousands of booths, cool ag innovations, hands-on activities, and plenty of chances to chat with colleges and companies from all over the country. (And yes, a little shopping happened too! 😉)

To end the day, we went to the FFA Rodeo at the Indiana State Fairgrounds! It was the perfect way to wrap up a busy day — great rodeo action, lots of laughs, and even more memories made with some amazing people.

Now the crew is headed home — tired but happy — and ready to cheer on the Wheeler Football team tonight!

So proud of this group and all they’ve experienced this week. What a trip!

Part 1 - Audubon FFA Heads to the National FFA Convention!

Twelve Audubon FFA members hit the road early Tuesday morning alongside members from the Harlan, E-EHK, Carroll Area, and AC-GC FFA Chapters for a week full of agriculture, leadership, and fun!

🚜 Tuesday’s adventures started at Kinze Manufacturing, where members toured the Innovation Center and watched a short film highlighting the history and innovation behind one of the nation’s top planter and grain cart manufacturers. From there, the group traveled to Kalona, Iowa, to explore the Kalona Cheese Factory and Stringtown Grocery, learning about local dairy processing and the Amish community’s influence on agriculture and food production.

🐷 Members then enjoyed a tour of Brenneman Pork, one of Iowa’s largest and most advanced pork production operations. Students learned about animal care, sustainability, and modern swine production practices. A big thank you to Tim and Erin Brenneman, Jennie Greene, and the entire Brenneman team for hosting such an informative and welcoming tour as well as providing lunch!

🎃 The evening wrapped up with some spooky fun at The Darkness Haunted House in St. Louis — ranked as one of America’s scariest haunted attractions!

✈️ Wednesday morning kicked off with a stop at the Animal Export Center near the St. Louis airport, where students learned how livestock are prepared, inspected, and transported for international shipment — an eye-opening look at how U.S. agriculture connects to global markets.

🐴 Next up was a visit to Anheuser-Busch for a behind-the-scenes tour of one of the nation’s most famous breweries. Students saw the historic brew kettles, packaging lines, and bottling areas, and even met the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales, learning how they are raised, trained, and cared for as brand ambassadors.

⚾ The group then headed to Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals, for a guided tour that included a walk through the dugout. The final stop of the day was the Gateway Arch.

🌟 After a busy two days, the group is now headed to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the National FFA Convention & Expo! Members are looking forward to attending the opening session, career fair, leadership workshops, and the rodeo before heading home Friday.

Stay tuned for updates from our Thursday adventures at the National FFA Convention!
