There have been so many popular tv shows highlighting maternal health issues and I won't lie, they all trigger me. After some tears and big emotions though I remember why we share these stories (even when they are fiction based on reality). When stories are shared, people start to understand just how serious these issues are.
So to the networks telling these stories—please keep going. Keep these topics in the spotlight. Help us spread the word.
Although some fans who missed The Pitt's season finale on HBO Max were frustrated by spoilers in today’s headlines, we were deeply moved to see an even larger number of people share heartfelt stories with us.
We’re thankful to see preeclampsia symptoms such as pitting edema and headache that won't go away shown accurately on TV. Every bit of awareness helps: recognizing signs and symptoms, tracking blood pressure and attending prenatal appointments.
Preeclampsia can quickly become serious and turn into eclampsia. Preeclampsia means "before seizures". In some cases, preeclampsia can progress to HELLP syndrome. We are grateful for The Pitt for bringing awareness to all hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
