Safe and Warm has recently been working closely with a member of our community who is currently experiencing housing instability but is actively working and doing everything they can to get back on their feet. The good news is that we’ve been able to help them locate a permanent housing opportunity. The only remaining barrier is coming up with $1,300 for the security deposit and first month’s rent.
Out of respect for this person’s dignity, I’m choosing not to share their identity, but I can share that they are working hard, getting to work every day and even received a promotion! They simply can’t save any money because after existing bills there is nothing left, but of course they make to much to qualify for assistance.
So we’re reaching out to our community bc they need a little help getting over this final hurdle so they can move into stable housing.
Safe and Warm is still relatively new as a nonprofit, and while we try to meet urgent needs in the community, we don’t yet have dedicated funding for situations like this. As you know, something as simple as stable housing can change the trajectory of someone’s life — allowing them to focus on work, health, and rebuilding their future.
So I'm asking on behalf of Safe and Warm and our housing insecure friend, if you are willing and able to please help our neighbor. Any contribution toward the $1,300 would make a meaningful difference and help move this person into a safe, stable home.
