The Valley of the Androscoggin is excited to invite you, your family, and your friends to our 25th Annual Ill. Roland Morgan Family Life Barbecue at the beautiful Ricker Hill Orchards Pavilion in Turner on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

For twenty-five years, this event has brought together Brothers, families, and friends for a day of fellowship, laughter, delicious food, and wonderful memories. Thanks to the vision of Ill. Roland Morgan, this tradition continues to remind us that the bonds we share extend well beyond our meetings; they are friendships that last a lifetime.

We’re also proud to present our annual scholarships at 11:30 a.m., recognizing outstanding young people and investing in the future of our communities.

Whether you’ve been with us every year or this will be your first Family Life Barbecue, we’d love to welcome you. Bring your family, reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and enjoy a relaxing summer day in one of Maine’s most beautiful settings.

We at the Valley of the Androscoggin would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the price of our freedom. No soldier wishes to pay that price, but when freedom is challenged, they willingly lay down their lives so that American families can continue to live in peace and liberty.

The Example of the Four Chaplains
In the Scottish Rite, the Four Chaplains Degree (the 23rd Degree) tells the powerful true story of four chaplains onboard the USS Dorchester during World War II. When their ship was torpedoed and sinking, these brave men gave up their own life jackets so that others might survive, standing arm-in-arm in prayer as the ship went down.

Their profound actions perfectly illustrate two of our core Scottish Rite values:

Devotion to Country

Reverence for God

A Weekend of Remembrance and Fellowship
Memorial Day is a time for peaceful remembrance, but it is also a day for families to come together and welcome the beginning of the summer season. As you gather with loved ones over this long weekend, we ask that you take a moment to celebrate the heroes who went before us to secure our liberty, and to raise a glass in honor of all current members of our armed forces.

Let us never forget the Four Chaplains, or any brave soul who has given their life in devotion to our Country.
