Looking for curriculum-aligned educational materials about LGBTQ+ civil rights history to use in your high school classroom or with the students in your life? The California State Archives' Education Program offers a free guide to accompany our online exhibit, The California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus: Working Towards Change in the Golden State.

Designed to support 11th-grade curriculum, the guide helps students explore the history of the LGBTQ+ rights movement in the United States, with a focus on California. Through primary sources, vocabulary, discussion questions, and classroom activities, students examine the movement's struggles, milestones, and ongoing evolution.

PFLAG believes every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and respected at school and at home. We are deeply concerned by legislation that could endanger LGBTQ+ youth and undermine affirming, inclusive education. HR2616 has not become law, and we encourage community members to stay informed, engaged, and committed to protecting the well-being of all families.
