What a blessing for our club to have been lead by Jim Floyd last Rotary year. Jim is a West Point graduate, an LSU Vet school graduate and a ferociously organized leader.

And if the proof is in the pudding, here you go. Below Jim is brandishing some of the awards that our club earned under his leadership which were awarded at the mid-year conference.

We appreciate you, Jim!

Bright and early at Chappy's Diner (our club's new home), on Monday, February 10, 2025, the Lee County Sunrise Rotary club hosted United Way's Brynne McCormick. Brynne worked hand-in-hand with us during our project to enlist hundreds of pre-schoolers in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Today, Brynne help us celebrate and revel in the success of our project last November.

And some other tremendous news. Our Club recognized long-time member Sue Berry on receiving her Paul Harris +5 pin! Yaaaaaaayyyyyyyy Sue!!

February 03, 2025, Have a Marvelous Rotary Monday!

Our little club is thrilled to have as new members 2 MORE enthusiastic new members from the great west African coastal nation of Nigeria. Susan Osayanda is currently very busy as a full time PhD student. As a Fisheries major in Nigeria, Auburn University was a natural fit for Susan to continue her post-grad studies in Assessment & Strategic Planning.

As if that wasn't enough..... Sandra Eyiah spoke to the club about her adventures growing ups one of 5 in Ghana matriculating through schools and eventually ending at Auburn University. Sandra, we are are very happy that you and Susan are here in Auburn and are part of our club.

Thank you Bill & Lane Sauser! You both have dedicated the last 27 years to serving Union Springs Presbyterian Church on a "part-time" basis. What a blessing to be able to see into that slice of your lives. Your presentation January 6 was a stellar example of your dedication and perseverance!

Anyone can reflect on Bill's wisdom by ordering volume 1 of Bill's sermons on line from Amazon, Books-a-Million and other sources, "Learning from the Lord, Volume 1: The Gospels (2023)."

Bill is indeed prolific in his ministry work, and everyone can view him only Youtube at , "William Sauser". You should try it and subscribe!

Lastly, please plan on attending the beautiful church one Sunday. It's located on the primary street through Union Springs, AL. You can find additional information at

Merrrrrrrrry Christmas, 2024. And a special debt of gratitude to Lynne Hammond who once again hosted our Club's annual Christmas social. Lynne's house is beautiful and located away from town in what must be the most peaceful, quiet and dark corner of the county.

Waaaaarrrr Eaaagle Sunrise Rotarians! The Club was delighted for hear Clarinda Jones Turner present on all of the many any important activities of the Greater Peace Community Development Center. Truly this organization is one of the biggest gems in Lee County. GPCDC supports children's educational needs and families' housing needs. Many thanks to GPCDC Board member and Sunrise Rotarian Bill Sauser for hosting Clarinda and for his great service to that great organization. https://www.gpcdc200.org

Service Above Self..... and boy did we get in some effective service! Lee County Rotary's project this year is to sign up over 1000 preschoolers to participate in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Turns out that the annual Loachapoka, AL Syrup Soppin' festival was just the place to do it! This year's weather was spectacular and literally thousands of families attended - many pushing strollers.

Thanks to the local United Way for helping coordinate and to Lynne Hammond, Traci West, Brian Moore, Jim Floyd, Winsley Bates and Steve Gosser for working the crowd diligently enough to meet our lofty goal - AND enter the names into the database so the kiddos could start receiving their books more promptly.

Special thanks to Rotarian and global adventurer, Jim Witte for securing our location adjacent to his Blacksmith forge.

Heck, we oldsters even learned about "Llama Llama"!

Welcome District Governor Howard Eddy! on October 21, 2024, Lee County Sunrise Rotary was honored to host DG Eddy. Our club, represented by Past President Jim Floyd, was delighted to once again present the DG with a "humongous" check for the Purple Pinkie program.

And DG Eddy in turn presented Club President Winsley Bates with a Certificate of Appreciation!

Giving is what Sunrise Rotary likes to do best!

September 9, 2024 - Another twin Cities treasure - Dr. Chenavis Evans presented as the guest of Catrina Cook. Dr. Evans has a passion for enhancing operational success and performance - particularly in municipalities.

Dr. Evans is one of the reasons Auburn and Opelika citizens are so pleased with their governments! Thank you Dr. Evans!

WAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR EAGLE!

Also today, ADG Bob Carson is smiling at the privilege of pinning yet another Rotary fellowship recognition onto his bride, Karen.
